It's not an S mint, it's an O.

Coin looks like it'll grade a 65.

in this case, previous comments withdrawn! i would say 63 plus.

If it graded MS66, the paramedics better be on hand when I get the results!

Amazingly enough, I actually did buy it at a flea market.

Just an area missing toning. Not flattening or ding.

cheek and chin, maybe bag abrasions. Still a nice coin!

don't be afraid, it's only a coin.

Only when referring to nice coins, chocolate or Jeri Ryan.

Fcloud,
Truth be told, that's the same thing I thought while I was buying it. I thought all the correct signs were there, but I'm just barely learning this stuff. So, when I got back with it, I posted this thread asking for opinions on the toning:
Original post about the coin.
The feedback was reassuring, and so were all the PMs I got wanting to buy it.

I really don't think I can give you a good grade from a scan, but I'll try.
First: The coin has a spectacular look for an 1882-O. You just don't see New Orleans mint with great color that often. Especially the broad band of red.
Second: Doesn't appear as if there is much going on on the obverse. My only concern is the little disturbance to the right of the eagle (Peter).
Conclusion: MS-65, shot MS-66
Good luck!
