We need factual and verifiable information on this Roanoke. Please review!

I purchased the Roanoke this last weekend form Anaconda. The coin is absolutely fabulous in grade and color. What I am attempting to do is chart and verify the past owners of the coin to build an exact history of its ownership. ANACS has supplied information on the original owners who submitted the coin in December of 1989 but I want to verify the owners before that and after 1989.

Myself and a few other believe the coins colors are original and plan to prove it by due diligence and discovery. Any information that you have would be helpful even if its hearsay. I will research the leads and throw out the non-verifiable information.

Please post the information or PM/email me at borsborn@txucom.net.

I will update the board on our discoveries along the way. Thanks in advance for any help.

I had spoken to a dealer recently about this coin. He told me it was part of a tremedous set of commems dating from about 1982. A collector/dealer had accumulated over the years a small, yet gorgeous, collection of about 15-20 monster commems, all raw of course. During the 1980's, he sold them off piecemeal, several went to Arnie Payne, and others were sold one by one. From what I understand, the Roanoke was one of the last of that collection that was sold. I'll try to find out who, what and when?

    Bryan--
Speaking for myself, I would love updates on what you learn about the coin. I think it's facinating.
Also, I would be curious as to whether Adrian had any seller's remorse? Had he grown attached to the thing? Or was he relieved to finally pass it on to someone else?

nice buy, Bryan. i had looked at it quite a few times since it had originally been listed (unfortunately never in person, just scans) and was quite sorely tempted. this little guy seems to get around pretty well so perhaps one day......

    p.s.
i can't provide any of the info you're looking for, just adding my 2c.

Is the purpose of gathering the info to get the coin into an NGC/PCGS slab?

ANACS has the coin now and we have the history from 1978 to 2002. As soon as I hear if we can contact the dealer who bought the coin in 1978 we will attempt to contact the collector who sold it, if they are still alive. We have been told that the collector bought it in the late 40's.
