I am now going to begin reserving packs if anyone is interested in buying 1 or 2 (or 4). I am probably going to only sell them until I make my money back and keep the rest.

I literally just won these 5 minutes ago and thought they were too cool to pass up. There are 15 packs all graded and apparently they all have hall of famers visable through the wrapping. I just thought I would share. Not sure if I want to crack/sell/keep yet. lol

wow.. nice find. 77 mexican football.. is pretty much one the most rare football sets. i didn't even know there was unopened stuff out there. what was ballpark for all of these?

I seriously got these for a steal. I also picked up a few PSA 8's with Bradshaw showing! The only ones that got any serious cash were the two that had the largent rookies showing. Those went for around $200-300 each. But these were a tenth that.

There are two and four card packs the four card packs are near impossible to come by (trust me) and the two card packs are a challenge in it self. That is why high grade examples are so rare; poor quality control and packs with very few cards in them.

I am sad I missed out on those. Watch out before you crack them. Most Mexican packs
are 2 cards with one stick of gum. There are a few rare 4 card packs with no gum.
I have opened over 60 boxes.
80% of the time the gum is on the front.
The gum stains the card it touches and sometime will soak
through to stain both cards. So some of those stars might have a gum stain.
Let me know if you want to sell any of the packs or singles.

I have opened a few packs before and am aware of the gum being a problem. I have also seen 2 card packs without gum out there, they are extremely rare but I pulled a beautiful Staubach from one about 2-3 years ago.

How many cards are in a complete set? And what was retail on these back in '77? Its just such a foreign concept to me for wax packs in the 1975-1995 era to contain 2 cards! I can understand the 50's packs with 1 card....but a penny back in 1952 was worth alot more than a penny in 1977.

Here is a pic of the pack in question. Obviously I will know for certain once it arrives but it is fun to spectulate.

I don't think it is a player card because it is missing a stat bar and clearly looks like it may be 100% text. I do not own any leader cards (1-6) or the super bowl card (528) but are there any other none player cards?

It is not any of the team checklists

I guess there are the two championship cards (526 and 527) which they probably are, but a man can dream though.

Hard to tell who is on the back of the pack. But it should be a rookie.
Rookies dont have any stats. Maybe a Largent!!!
You can go look at my mexican set on the registry. I have
all 528 cards scanned front and rear on there.

WOW!! Absolutely beautiful set!!! I am truly jealous of that. I literally am sitting here in complete disbelief!

The scan with the back card showing is probably a lineman. Most of them have just text. I can't see it, so it's tough to make out who it is.

And who's the bozo with that silly Topps Mexican Set and why would they waste so much time putting a price guide together that is so far off of what Beckett and Krausse list the prices at (me thinks me needs to gets to updating it since the market has gotten a little softer on this issue and I've been very lax about updating the site).

I noticed a few two-card panels up on eBay, now. When I get the chance, I'll post an image of the PSA 8 three-card panel that I have...

Nice pick up on the graded packs. I've got a stack of 2 and 4 card packs that I've been meaning to get slabbed, but for some reason, I always put it off...

Don, have you been breaking any wax lately or are you on hold? I've been so busy building my '48 Leaf Set that I've really ignored building any more Mexicans...

8603 cards have been graded.

There are 220 PSA 9's and there are 0 PSA 10's!!!

This set is near impossible to complete in good condition.

I haven't purchased graded 77 mexican cards in a while but 8's can go for $15 -$60 depending on scarcity for commons and I haven't seen a 9 in a while but it wouldn't surprise me if one went for $200+ although I have seen a couple that have sold at around $100. These prices are nothing compared to short prints. Please someone correct me if i'm wrong.

YES THE PACKS DID GO CHEAP!!!! I was estatic once they ended (hence my thread being posted 5 minutes later). I will probably sell off 15 or so out of the 20 packs and keep a few for my ever growing collection. There was also an entire box that sold but I am already broke lol. For packs as rare and unique as these you cannot trust them in the hands of Heritage, they are the WORST. I would have put them on ebay if I wanted to sell them off.

If you noticed, when heritage wrote the title for the auction listing they did not mention at all the fact that every one of these packs had a hall of famer showing through the wrapping. I feel bad for the guy who spent countless hours opening boxes and searching packs only to have them sold for 30% of what they are worth.

Again, your set is BEAUTIFUL!!!

There are a some 2 card packs that do not have gum, but that was not the norm and most probably packaging error. The few that I've seen recently have been resealed. The toughest part is that it is very easy to "search" the 2 card packs (and the boxes) and that makes it tough to buy "clean" boxes and unsearched packs. However, in one of the last multi-pack lot I bought, I did get two packs that had a Leroy Selmon and a Seahawks Checklist on the back.
