Yep. No good. The digits in the date are way off.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Fake. Reported... not that I think eBay gives a damn any more.
    When in doubt, don't.

Is it a flat out counterfeit or has the date been tooled?

Reported it a week ago when it first listed. Nothing has been done by Ebay. I wrote an email to John Donahoe about the changes in counterfeit reporting and processing and the likely results of ignoring our reports. Of course I didn't get a direct reply from him, but I did get a fairly long reply from his office. In a nutshell, the reply assured me that Ebay was still listening and removing counterfeits when reported. We all know they haven't been. I have reported over 90 in the past two weeks and all of the ones I kept track of have gone to completion. I am tracking this one in particular as the "value" is very high. I will use it as an example when I compile my reply to Donahoe's office, the gist of it being that Ebay is going to have some helluva big "Buyer Protection" claims in the near future.

Flat out counterfeit. Look at the rims and dentils, the porous "sandblast-like" surfaces, the lack of sharpness in the details. Fake all the way IMO...

I am getting better at seeing the fakes To all of you that have help teach me thank you so very much. I have given up reporting coins every one has gone to completion some well over 2000.00. I still see this as facilitating the sale of counterfeit coins as soon as reported and this would be in violation of the hobby protection act. We may need to start quoting the parts of said act with the report of the fakes. If they do not pull coins we might as well get use to determining what maker of the fakes each is minting and start getting them slabbed. If we do this it may save our market and keep it from crashing. By acknowledging the fakes outright, putting a low value on them based on composition and quality of workmanship we then draw attention to them and reduce their overall impact to our hobby and business structure. Just a crazy idea but it has worked in the toy arena for figures etc...

Yup, reported that on earlier, too.

There is a seller who listed 20 Morgans a couple days ago - all different dates and mintmarks and all were as fake as could be. They seems to be coming out of the woodwork...

Looks like it's been cancelled once before:

<< <i>1895-s Morgan Dollar Rare (Very Beautiful Detail)
    Definitely a Keeper!! (You Decide)

First and Foremost, I am sorry for those who bid on this Morgan Dollar, and then were canceled, due to the ebay High IQ Center... I love ebay dearly, but do not get them at times.

My husband has been a collector for over 30 years, and due to ebays policy, they ended this auction prior to notifying me. I can not mention any grade, even for educational needs. This coin is listed with high detailed pictures, and is 100% authentic. As always, you review my photo's and make your own decision to this Morgan Silver Dollar 1895-s value. I assure the winning bidder will be very happy, and you will receive the exact Morgan dollar shown in my pictures.

This 1895 s Morgan Silver Dollar (Rare with Nice Strong Detail) has been in my husbands collection for many years. From what I am told, this is a Very Scarce Better Detail Quality Grade 1895 s Dollar. I have started this auction at 99 cents, with very high quality pictures, hoping this 1895 s Dollar will find a nice home. I know very little about coins, other then the up to date collector coin books show this Dollar valuing in the very high dollars, when it comes to Morgan coins.

A hand full of the Morgan Silver Dollars were mis-struck, which makes them more valuable, like this 1895 s. If you look at the back upper rim of this Morgan Silver Dollar, you will see in my close up detailed pictures, an over strike to the rim. With out these close up pictures, the rim is difficult to notice by the human eye. This would be called a mis-strike, or not fully struck, and then struck again.

Most important details to look for, is the hair, rim, eagle breast feathers, head feathers, wing feathers, feet, leaves, scratches, and nicks. If you have a coin with these high details, most likely this coin will be a big winner for your collection, and has been low to no circulation.
    Coin Specifications:
    Category: Morgan Dollars (1878-1921)
    Mint: San Francisco
    Mintage: 400,000
    Catalog: KM-110
    Composition: Silver
    Fineness: 0.9000
    Weight: 26.7300g
    ASW: 0.7734oz
    Diameter: 38.1mm
Please take your time to view the pictures before bidding, you will receive exactly what is in the pictures. >>

Are you buying, go Harass every other coin seller on ebay. My husband has a nice coin and I have nothing to prove to you. Have a beautiful evening.

    - gemstojewelry2012

If you read my listing, my husband does not believe in certification from blind people, and starts the auction at 99 cents letting the buyer view my detailed photos. He does not wan to mention certification, as it is off by his history in coin collecting.I am sorry, but people have the right to do their own grading...

    - gemstojewelry2012

I said ANACS employs no blind people and is a reputable company, posting the grade can only help the listing. Cant wait for the next response.

Wow, all I did was ask for a pic of the slab......

    got this:
My husband travels for a living, and has indicated he can meet with you in your pathetic business, and shove his authentic coins in your face if my photos do not speak loud enough. My husband feels you are not the only collector in America that has coins nor a ledger to where all Morgan Silver Dollars are kept. Unless you like to harass people, my husband has plenty of time and money to come visit you for a very affordable meal. Now you do not know me, nor my family or assets. Please stop commenting, I am not your friend, nor a business associate of yours. My husband has been brought up to date concerning your immature, and ignorant insulting emails, and ebay does provide member details. Stop please, this is my last request. Go harass the other 200,000 ebay sellers. I have kindly asked you to stop, now this becomes harassment, and my final request to go away,

She's well aware it's fake and there's no slab. No TPG would slab it, not reputable anyway.

    EDIT: My response from her

Every one has a choice, I know what my husband has. Maybe your business is not going well, but do not insult those you do not know. FYI, not every Morgan was COUNTERFIEIT, my husband has many years including soon another certified MS-65 DMPL listing. I am 100% sure several will say an authentic certified coin of this grade will be called COUNTERFIEIT. My email to you is people are evil, and some times it is best to think before you speak. My husband has taken certifications off several coins, just to see if the grade was the reason for the previous poor return in his investment. This is a perfect example, including the Barber Half Dollar, which will soon lose it's certified capsule. No one out there is copying every coin, year, letter or number. My husband and I are well aware of copies / COUNTERFIEIT. Collecting is not new to my husbands hobby of history. I am 100% sure my husband could put you under the table with collectables and history, if it came to that. Once again my time is more valuable with my family, and not with the coin police.

even if you have had a loss, the Secret Service or FBI may not care or just take the info and let it sent.

Help sure is hard to give to some people. Would the value of this coin be a factor in the legality based on the fact that the sellers have been told the coin is fake. This would be federal and at this value could be a felony. What do you all think?

I'll say a prayer before heading to work that Ebay will do the right thing. The blob of material above the 9 and near the M at the base of the neck happens from casting correct? The 95S also has the same blobs of material almost in the same location.

EDIT: Everyone here has reported them correct? Seems the only way to terminate a listing is numerous reports.

Likewise. There are so many that posting up each one here would be a tedious chore. I typically report anywhere from 5 to 10 each day and have reported as many as 30+ in one day. Whether or not Ebay is doing anything with them, it at least makes me feel like I'm doing something, however futile...

Dennis, I have also reported the POS, but with no CCW, no EMR's and no Trust & Safety, I am not expecting much to happen except the seller - whether honest or not - will walk away with the money and the buyer will have been fleeced - Stephen.

For the record, I stated in my report that if this sells, eBay will have been complicit in the fraud.

Update - the POS has been removed!!

i actually have a thread for such a purpose but few use it. i would only ask for the item numbers so as to cut down on the amount of time someone would spend on such efforts.

Gotta love her new description, laughing. Is it even silver? If silver, it's a $15 lump of silver and nothing more, period! She just doesn't get it, I have to work hard to earn the money to afford the coins for my collection and do NOT appreciate sellers trying to rip off others, not good for any of us. Was she aware it was counterfeit, I don't know but she knows now.

EDIT: A reserve on $15 worth of silver, to funny image
