Law & Order Criminal Intent- Double Eagle episode

Just caught the beginning of the re-run tonight for first time, had to laugh as they were pulling up from bottom of the ocean and then carrying around 5 gallon plastic buckets of 1861? double eagles- something tells me these would be kinda hefty, not sure those handles would hold it.

i remember them coming up through the water, but no lifting of them out of or into a holding area.

but yeah, a full "cheap" looking white plastic bucket, with a mesh bottom, full of double eagles.

what about the "coin dealer" i was expecting some fat old fart like me in a hula shirt.

    << <i>what about the "coin dealer >>

I think he did offer them like $300 or $400 for a coin...

he offerd him 300, to which he replied, "is that what you just bought the other ones for"

I missed the ending of the episode, cause the show started late and my tivo ended right on the hour. It cut off just as they were telling the investor that they were gonna raise the ship, which would've id'd his family as supporting the slave market (after emancipation had been ruled) which would've ticked off his african american wife and make his family look like a bunch of idiots.

I got a kick out of the guy on the beach, when questioned about the 1861 double eagle the kids found in the fish, he replied "I told them it was worth money, I gave them 10 bucks for it" image

Oh yeah, I remember that guy, he was walking with a metal detector in a straight line- just holding the thing in front of him not even swinging it! Being a detectorist myself, I thought they had him dressed a little bit like a bum and kinda lookin like an idiot, hmn...

detective goren: why you ignoring all the signals, unless that has the ability to distinguish between coins and garbage?

bum: yeah, it has different signals, so I know when its a coin

ames questions bum while goren goes behind his back and bends down

goren: I buried a bottle cap and a coin, tell me which is which

bum: (scans area, gets different signals) points > theres your bottle cap

goren: (goren digs it up) no, thats a coin, and so is the other image

reminds me of when I first started swinging a detector

The story was definitely full of holes... and not the 'digging' kind.... Cheers, RickO
