Re: Fake silver dollars from China
<< <i>I suspect that the sellers of those counterfeits are very well aware of what they are doing. >> You may be right, but I prefer to assume the best in people. I've never had anyone argue with me, or "act" like a scammer in response. One seller asked me about two other auctions he had, and I said I couldn't tell if they… -
Re: 21 Bid retractions in 6 months.......Any good reason for this?
<< <i> << <i> << <i>Ooooh, I'm glad we have the boards. Great perspective ! >> I almost think this post (the one yo are talking about) should be deleted so as not to give the scammers ideas...what think you guys? >> I agree there, too but thankfully we have those who see and think deeper and realize that is probably what… -
Re: An Ebayer says they want to pay for an item from two different paypal accounts. Seems strange...eve
I have two accounts, both use the same address. i don't worry about funds in one account or another but I can see some guys doing it. I would say a scammer would want to pay from one fraudulent account, not two. it might be possible one was good and one was bad but then you would have his name and address. It sounds fine… -
Re: Most coins sales on ebay piss me off.
What gets me are some of the strong prices that copies and repos are selling for on ebay. It's crazy to see pay people the money for a copy or repo from some scammer when they could have bought a nice original coin, slabbed by a good service from a honest seller. I also can't get over people who pay big money on a… -
Re: Massive Autograph Fraud Uncovered
Always a special place in hell for scammers. Just like the fakers, I mean reprinters. Like who was Gem Grading and all their fake cards like this 1986 Randy Johnson If you do not follow this card. It's a $1k card currently as a PSA 10 and compare the "8" in the 1986 copyright on the bottom left on the reverse and that it… -
How much have your skills improved as a result of this forum?
Grading? Spotting coins with eye-appeal? Spotting problems? Avoiding scammers? My own comments: Grading - I was always conservative and remain so. I have become much more adept at net grading. Spotting coins with eye-appeal - I was always able to spot them, but have become even more picky. Spotting problems - I have gotten… -
Re: Anyone ever click on a spoof Ebay message?
It used to be that you could go to the phishing site and enter anything into the credit card and username/password blanks...I would call the scammer every name in the book in those blanks and click the 'Login' button. Lately, they've gotten more sophisticated, and actually require a real CCN or they won't accept the… -
Re: Did you bid on counterstamps in this weekend's Heritage auction....Got Chopmarks?
You can PM him by clicking on his name and following the prompt to message. You may want to post your own photos of the pieces you acquired as we are skeptical of new members responding to want lists. I once had a new guy contact me about an auction lot I missed and set up a want ad here. But when I asked for photos, he… -
When eBay suspends a seller AFTER you pay
The seller is gone, no way to look up his contact info. eBay won't share any info beyond saying he's been suspended and his auctions removed. Plus if he's suspended he's probably a scammer and neither has my merchandise nor intends to give a refund. I can file a PayPal claim, but the Buyer Protection page says I only get… -
Re: **UPDATE** Huckster at Work on EBay, Folks! You make the call!
<< <i>This is very satisfying to know that there is going to be a large cost to him for being a Thief and a Scammer. Much better than a NEG in this case. BTW, Thank you EVERY One for the support! >> I have seen these spots develop very quickly with temperature changes...You call a guy a thief, a scammer and call for…
