Re: Grade the Franklin
It looks like it should cam, but with PCGS right now they are being awefully tight on cam/dcam coins. They could bone you due to the fade toward the bottom of Franklin's bust and the top of the bell. In my book, it should be a cam all the way, but they are being really weird. If those are milk spots on the obverse and… -

Re: MS or PR 70 Coins
<< <i>A 70 coin should have no spots and be perfect. If you see one that has spots they may have formed after the coin was graded and is no longer deserving of the 70 grade. >> "Shiney Spots" don't form on a coin after its graded. Milk Spots do but not shiney spots. Shiney Spots represent a break or wearing away of the… -

Re: Poll:Should PCGS change their policy of not giving MS70 grades for "W" mint Silver Eagles
It is unfortunate that many 2006W uncirculated silver eagles seem to have the famous "milky" spots and if I receive a PCGS MS70 2006W Silver Eagle with a spot on it, I will be extremely upset. For that reason alone, I agree that PCGS should not give a "MS70" to any ASE until the U.S. Mint can get their acts together. I… -
gold Sovereign and proof '64 Kennedy halves

In my over-zealous attempt to accumulate Accented Hair and Cameo '64 Kennedy halves, i'm left with over 50 or so really nice proof examples. I've sold off the ones that have hazing, toning, carbon spots or milk spots; whats left are really nice examples that i've entombed to Airtites. As you can see, these are the cool… -
Re: Stack's and Bowers Dusk and At Dawn 35th Anniversary 2021 ASE/AGE Auction results
I generally agree, because these do have a unique pedigree, coming directly from the mint, as opposed to the artificially numbered rarities created to order by the HSN dude, with the cooperation of all of the grading services. Only 500 of each coin definitely creates a window for future value. That said, it's hard to see a… -
Spotty Accented Hair 1964 Kennedys
I posted about this a while back, when I had a spotted AH half come back from NCS with the spots still there...apparently milk spots are common on these (thanks, Russ!). Has anyone recently come up with a way to remove them? I have an opportunity to buy over 30 1964 sets with AH halves, for graysheet bid. I picked out the… -
Re: Just bought a 1960 cameo Franklin half dollar
That’s a nice looking coin. No milk spots or unattractive toning, which both occur regularly while in the OGP. As long as you bought it at CAM pricing, you’re good. Hoping for a DCAM out of it, even based on the glamour shot on the website, would be misguided. I would imagine any coins DLRC thought was worthy of the DCAM…
