Re: Silver Eagles at 18 Dollars ? Must be a scam.......
This is a sad situation! I have seen these scammers use this same ad for a while now. They have hijacked the basic web page, logo's and such from a real US coin dealer. The real dealer has had to take some heat over this. If I were that dealer I would have to think about changing my name, logo and web page. I may lose some… -
Re: Target stops selling all trading cards in stores on May 14
One of us has about 20 lines of contact into organized crime task forces, the FBI, and has been on Discovery ID channel busting Nigerian scammer rings. One of us doesn't and hasn't. Cell phone store robberies? It's gangs. Car thefts from dealerships? Same. Catalytic converters being torched off of cars? Gangs, and meth… -
Re: US Mail delivery , without being package scanned
If a coin or other item arrives after an insurer pays the claim then technically it belongs to them. I don't know if the USPS would catch that a claim was paid, tho the tracking number should show that. I'd check with my postmaster. As far as eBay or PP I suppose one could always try to call and even if it goes nowhere at… -
Re: Man! Ebay is Ka-poot! Awwww!
For me, Ebay has not been a profitable venue to sell coins in the last 5 years. Rarely do I place anything for sale on Ebay. With the number of scammers listing coins and the number of home made slabbing companies, a nice coin is hard to sell at a reasonable price. People do not take into consideration a coin graded MS70… -
Re: How much will this Jeremy Lin close for ?
<< <i>David, this is EXACTLY the climate for prospectors and scammers to come out and make a quick buck (but potentially lose as well). From shorting, to schilling, to not completing transactions, anyone in the market for a Lin card needs to be careful. >> Curious what you mean by shorting, do people try to sell a card… -
Re: Ebay bidding question
<< <i>How come some sellers can limit the number of item one bids on in a given week? What it the motivation for this? I was bidding on a bunch of sellers items and a prompt came up stating that I cannot bit on more than 5 items per week. >> The reason that imediately comes to mind would be that the seller doesn't want the… -
Re: Should eBay require sellers to specify a grade for cards?
Can't do it. There's way too much variation in how people grade. Sure you can post standards, but based on the fact that there's a thread-a-day dealing with submitters shocked at the low (or high) grades they got, about the "overgraded" PSA cards on Ebay, etc, you can see that no one has it perfect. Heck, people can't even… -
Re: As a buyer on eBay, do you care if the listing is "Private"??

<< <i> Before eBay scrambled the buyers id a few years back, private sales for high priced items was almost a must to avoid the identity of the buyer. Now it's mostly utilized by questionable sellers with questionable products or scammers. >> This is what I was looking for! I remembered using this function many years ago… -
Re: So when a dealer says he won't refund me for a recolored Perry RC, what do I say?

Ron, sounds like the dealer and you have been dealing for a long time. I think he should refund your money for the Perry, I know if you were a customer of mine for 7 years spending a couple grand every time, I would be refunding your money. A wise coin/carddealer I knew once said: "Sell it to make a profit but always leave… -
Re: Seller uses Auctiva to process paypal payment
I have no way of knowing that I am at a safe site. A smart scammer could easily use this method to capture my paypal password. Ain't gonna happen. I have no problem with logging into paypal from an ebay site. My cool ebay tool bar shows me that I am at an actual ebay site. If I, as a seller, was gonna use a third part…
