Re: Example #500 For Why eBay is Going the Way of Circuit City
There is a false statement if I ever heard one. I feel like I deserve one - do I get a discount?? NO! I ship next day on all my orders. I pack better than any other seller I have ever encountered. Just because a couple of sellers don't like me charging for shipping and have decided to ding my stars, then I lose my… -
Re: what would have happened if the us had stayed on the gold standard
I think there is a flawed understanding of how the Gold EXCHANGE Standard (not "Gold Standard") worked from 1945-71. For starters, no financial firms were "bailed out" though flexibility allows for mopping up operations. :) Second, downturns would have been more severe and unemployment much higher (much as Europe today)… -
Re: TV Show Mystery Shipwreck solved by Coins Aboard
Thanks all. For those interested in my comment regarding lead as having been speculated to have contributed to the fall of Rome here is an interesting article. Of note the fish sauce condiment referenced in the article was in fact the substance that was determined to have been stored for transport in the large ceramic jars… -

From The PSA Grading Standards................................... Re: Eye Appeal The Importance of Eye-Appeal and Subjectivity in Grading Over the years, more and more collectors have come to understand the basic guidelines behind PSA grading. Short report from China
I posted this in the World forum, please excuse the cross posting but I know many of you guys don't visit the darkside. I arrived in Shanghai today after 5 days in Beijing and wanted to give a short report on the coin business here. I got a chance to go to two government coin and currency museums, visited some "reputable"… -
Re: Ugliest PSA 9 ever???

ok, damn.. since DBH is no longer doing his job, please allow me to refresh him on some points i'm sure he's already aware of.. DBH, how can you say PSA doesnt know the difference in an 8 or 9? It's THEIR grading standards, and they're the ones who assigned the grade! The slab clearly says it's a 9, so without a doubt it's… -
Re: GTG - 1921 Peace Dollar (PR62 Satin)
It’s inaccurate to say that “a coin like this is not something NGC will be willing to call PF without a trusted submitter.” We may theorize as to the reasons behind this particular coin or that particular coin being certified differently at different points in time and possibly by different graders, but to claim that it is… -

FUN 2011 Show Report
FUN 2011 Show Report- There have been no doubt scores of FUN show reports already posted and so this one might be completely redundant or boring, but I will add my experience to the boards anyway. Most of us are likely quite a bit more familiar with Orlando than we are with Tampa and the change in scenery can make for an… -
Has anyone purchased QDB's Obsolete Currency book?
I put in my order back in May, so that I am the first to get my copy when it arrives on the China slow boat. I can't wait for it to arrive. Here are some comments that QDB made about the book in his Dave's Notes, along with a full description from another part of their website: "Whitman Publishing Company advises us that…
