1828 capped Bust Dime, Large Date, Curl base 2.
Only 2 dime varieties exist for the year 1828. This is an example of the JR-2 variety, distinguished by a larger date and a curled base in the '2' in the date. A unique #2 punch? On an 1805 quarter
The #2 punch on the reverse die of an 1805 B-5 quarter is unlike any other #2 punch in the entire series. So why is this? Could a regular punch be used and have the engraver enhance the 2 before the die was hardened? The punch was from a different series? Or more unlikely a punch that was used only once.
