Re: Thoughts on Ryan Howard
Thoughts on Howard? At his best(his short three year prime), he was not even as good as Carlos Delgado. At his next best part of his career, he was no better than Richie Sexson. His last few years he has been about as good as Rob Deer. His RBI totals are a refection of his team as much as they are of him. He was a great HR… -
Re: ***DECEMBER Gold and Silver Stocks/Options/Futures trading thread***
From my recollection during 2009, every significant correction in gold took place as part of a RISING GSR as liquidity fled the markets. This did not happen today. Silver held up better. More money fled from gold than from silver.....well at least more paper contracts fled. I don't know about the physical metal though.… -

Re: 2026 Mint schedule update
Selling Peace & Morgan Reverse Proofs as stand alone SKU's. . .Also introducing Enhanced Uncirculated versions of Peace & Morgan (as single SKU's) In the Fall, the schedule shows a Morgan and Peace Dollar Two Coin Set; no description posted so it's speculation to suggest these will not be proof issues. No listing for any… -
Re: Overheard at Superior Lot Viewing: "Do you think this is worth lasering?"
<< <i> No laws are being broken, just coins are being broken.Jerry >> Hmmm. I think there could be a quibble about whether laws are being broken when people deliberately alter coins to make them appear to be worth more, or outright forge coins: 18 USC § 331. Mutilation, diminution, and falsification of coins Whoever… -
Re: Time for a great numismatic purge?
There is a surplus for most generics so the coins wouldn’t be missed. Most of the doctored coins will stay in their plastic coffins where they will dupe future collectors. Now the inflated premium from the alteration is absorbed by spot. It is no secret that rampant doctoring has hurt the rare coin market. The holder of… -

Re: Someone turned me in to beckett......
Okay, it's a slow evening ... well, at least for me. So just to humor myself, I did some digging. Trademarks are issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Thus, we have federal jurisdiction. However, we may also have state jurisdiction under state common law. Searches for trademarks on the USPTO's website… -
Re: Let's see some SHIPS!
I did Nunfa0 , thanks , it wasnt just for looks though..maybe more a case of false advertising.White Star wanted the public to view their ships every bit as powerful as the Cunard Line. Its just as you say , a false stack just for looks serving little purpose,White Star ships only had 3 boiler rooms. -
Re: Need help identifying the name of this error and it’s rarity
I'm not entirely sure why it took the OP fifteen months to compose that reply, but anyways... Mint errors are a result of some flaw, defect or breakdown in the coin minting machinery or processes. Minting a coin is a complex industrial process, but not really all that complex. There are only a small number of ways the…
