Back in '08, I bought some of the 1 oz. "W"s and some of the 1/4 oz. "W"s, and I'm not unhappy with either of them. The 1/4 ozers have done well, and I paid $1,199.95/ea. for the 1 ozers - so even without a numismatic premium increase, the price of gold has brought them along to the dance. When comparing the 2011-W $50 to the 2008-W $10 it will help to consider................ 1) The 2008-W $10 cost as I recall $300 for 1/4 oz of gold. 2) There has been an almost 70% rise in value of the gold content alone since the 2008-W was issued. 3) The collector dynamics for the fractional coins are different than for… -

Bottom line: The one ounce AGEs have always been the most popular. The 1/10 ounce are second most popular because of their affordability. The 1/4 and 1/2 ounce are the least popular in the series. Some will say that the 2008-W doesn't really count because it is "just a fractional". I think that is the gist of it. I'm not… -

The last sales report shows the total sales of 2011 $50 AGE Unc is only 8,637. (1) If it it go black, it could be the lowest AGE across all denomination. (2) Of course, it could also be a false alarm and after the inventory is shipped to PBGS, it will go back to normal and be in stock for some more time. For those who have… -

It seems everyone is comparing apples to oranges. A 1 oz slug doesn't compete against a 1/4 oz in my mind.
