I'm always fascinated when a coin cataloguer has to describe an ugly high grade

One of my perverse thrills in this hobby is reading the coin copy of obviously ugly coins by astute major auction house cataloguers. These guys/gals earn their keep in spades, it's the toughest job in the business. For every great coin that brings out the best in them, like this, there are so many coins like this. 1864 1C… -
