Just got these back from PCGS. 1894-O local coin show purchase VF-30 1896 raw on Ebay. XF-40 1898-S raw on Ebay VF-25 the obverse is a little crusty There was also a 14-S that came back in a BB. << <i>TomBr, Nice group of coins. Congratualtions. Sorry for the BB, but you never know how they'll look at a rim nick. I edited my post on the 1877-S TD...its going back. >> Mike, Harry has a beautiful 1877-S, in AU-55 though. Check it out. Harry's 1877-S Trade Dollar Tombr, It's always fun to have raw coins grade at… -
Re: Post some new Barber images - the Mega Barber Thread
Thanks for the comments on the 14-D guys. Mike, I hope you like it. It went out in the mail today. Since I'm working on two Barber dime collections (AU58 and XF45), I have a hard time justifying hanging on to duplicate AU58s even when they're gorgeous. Here's a recent purchase. I don't remember if I've posted this one… -
Re: Post some new Barber images - the Mega Barber Thread
Just got the grades back on these. Sorry about the first one, it's an IHC I'm pleased with this one. Bought them all raw at shows, local auctions etc........ I suspected the 14-S wouldn't pass muster. It has XF40/45 details 1 1 12269828 2206 1900 1C US MS64RB 2 1 12269829 6469 1894-O 50C US VF30 3 1 12269830 6474 1896 50C… -
Re: Post some new Barber images - the Mega Barber Thread
Okay, here's one of my favorites. It's a PCGS.......... you guys can guess if you want. NO CHEATING, and you know who I mean. I have a few a PCGS too. All halves. 92-S ANACS 20 94-S ANACS 30 95-O NGC 45 I know that's only 3 but PCGS gives me special treatment. I have a few raw halves one on deck waiting to go in. Grades… -
Re: Post some new Barber images - the Mega Barber Thread
Here's the other show take home. A well stuck 1898-O that I couldn't pass up. I've never seen one of this date in XF locally, and the ones on the Bay have always had strong bidders. The date is typically terrible in the original look department. This one is not exceptional either, having the dipped or soap and water look… -
Re: Post some new Barber images - the Mega Barber Thread
With the recent experience selling the XF 45 set at auction I am in the process of writing up two articles about barber halves (set collecting and specifics about XF 45 grades) that will be available for reading on HLRC.COM soon. It has been very interesting for me to see coins that I once purchased as raw from a number of…
