Re: 1972- P- TYPE # 2 IKES..........................................

Grand Am ( Gary ), I Have been putting them aside for the last 3 years. I just sent 2 raw Type # 2 coins in for grading. I have 9 raw ones left, but they will grade au-58 to Ms 63. Another guy in California has been putting them aside for about a year. In addition, I think that James Sego was accurate on his estimations of… -
Re: 1972- P- TYPE # 2 IKES..........................................

I only have (2) left. The best one is a coin I bought raw at a show for $2 and sent in myself for grading. It graded PCGS MS65. The 2nd coin just graded a couple of weeks ago. I bought it in an ANACS MS65 holder. I sent it to PCGS and it crossed to PCGS MS65. It is almost as nice as the 1st coin but I like the color better… -

<< <i> The supply of high grade , and medium grade Ike Type # 2 coins are vanishing, like the American buffalo. >> The American buffalo (bison) is in no danger of vanishing! A better example would be the indigo snake or the ivory-billed woodpecker. But even if you had chosen a truly endangered species, instead of a bison,… -
1972- P- TYPE # 2 IKES..........................................

The supply of high grade , and medium grade Ike Type # 2 coins are vanishing, like the American buffalo. In The Authoritative Reference On Eisenhower Dollars, James Sego Estimated that less than 100 examples existed in MS65. So far, only 20 have been certified ny PCGS. I attend every show, within a 500 mile radius of where… -

Re: 1972- P- TYPE # 2 IKES..........................................
Coindog, You are right. Believe it or not, I've NEVER cherry picked a type 2 72-P. I have a MS65 for sale right now, along with most other grades. They are getting tougher to replace. I think my guess of 8 years ago will prove pretty accurate. I figured 1% of total mintage. Remember to add 9 NGC MS65's and I'm sure close… -
Re: 1972- P- TYPE # 2 IKES..........................................

Bushmaster, I will be glad to say hello ! You are right, about the buffalo ( american bison ) The reason I mentioned it was out of habit, also, the 3 legged buffalo population report looks similar in comparison to the type # 2 population report. Fithermore, I collect only the " key " coins from the other series, and… -

<< <i>COINDOG.....I agree! I've only been able to find a few in rolls,...and nothing above 64. Any Type 2 in 65 that I have were bought already slabbed. I got lucky and added an MS64 type II to my Eisenhower registry set. The coin was purchased as an Anacs MS65 , and was cracked out and submitted to pcgs 3 times before I… -
Re: 1972- P- TYPE # 2 IKES..........................................

You're lucky! I haven't been able to find any via shows, rolls, or piles and piles of IKEs via Ebay (searched most likely)... I found one in a roll about two years ago (63), other than that the ones I have are all paid for as Type 2s, although at significanlty lower prices than they are going for now. I wonder how high…
