I agree. Those are the items that have to be priced with a non-negotiable price. This is why I said that the idea that all items have wiggle room (haggle room) is a fallacy. Let’s see…@jcc1876 indicated that a few are available on eBay for roughly $600 to $725. So maybe the dealer asking $900 will get his price if 1) silver increases by $175.00 to $300.00 per ounce and 2) the coins don’t lose any of their premium as a result of the huge move in silver. 😄 -

Thanks for your kindly reply. All I am saying is that the old adage - 'you get what you pay for', very well applies to buying in numismatics. I am happy to pay full boat plus for the nicest coins, if someone offers me a coin for below full boat, it gives me pause bc likely there is an issue with the quality of the coin.… -

Over the winter, I was screwing around with old inventory on eBay. I had a comic that hasn't sold in over a year at $199. I marked it $249 and started offering everyone 20% off. No, I don’t. I pretty much deal with 2 brothers at a monthly local show, who only sell PCGS graded coins. Their prices are somewhat higher than I would pay, but they have very nice material and if it’s close to Price Guide, I’ll pay it. If it’s hundreds or thousands higher, we negotiate. -

I'm not a fan of haggling. I'll play or pass as a buyer, and I'll quote you my price as a seller. If someone is buying or selling a bunch of things, sure, Ia discount could be reasonable. People laughed at me for paying ‘full boat’ ($400) for a MS semi-key Morgan OGH/CAC about 6-7 years ago. Nobody wanted to buy it. Retail was around $225 at the time.
