Re: 2024 New England Patriots Discussion Thread
Whose the worst pats WR bust of all time? My top three choices would be: 1.Hart Lee Dykes 1989 16th pick. played in 26 games for Pats then was out of the league due to a knee injury in a game and an eye injury suffered during a bar room fight that also involved teammate irving Fryar. 2. Chad jackson 2006 36th pick. played… -
Re: MS68 Rattler, 1864 25c
The PCGS price guide may be of some help. One could do a number of cross checks between various dates/mints in the 67/68 to see where this 1864 should fall in. It may be a lot of work, but probably worth while. A starting point would be this MS67 CAC that brought $35K in 2015. Interesting that this coin (and maybe others… -
Re: Harry Laibstain e-mail market report...
Have to disagree with the above. Look at an MS 66 business strike Liberty Nickel graded 20 years ago and compare it with one graded two years ago. You're looking at the newly graded coin, which might grade MS 65 back then, maybe lower. Have you looked at many 12 S Nickels in MS 66 holders? I have. Not many 67s are being… -
Re: Since I am on a roll, I believe every coin can be reproduced..

One way you can tell for SURE a fake PCGS slab from a real one. Submit the coins yourself. Provenance, or tracing the history of ownership of that coins back until it was slabbed is also a good way to assure yourself of authenticity. Your assumption that a small time machinist could produce a coin that would fool everyone… -
Re: Crushed Lettered Edge Capped Bust Half Dollars
1. What is the diameter of these coins? (Same as the 1836 Reeded Edge? If not, why?) No, the same planchet as the regular production issue half, but mechanical compression may have altered the diameter of the planchet used, I believe that new the collar was adjustable. As seen in the one known unlettered edge specimen.… -

Re: 2026 Emerging Liberty Dime
Well, the mint failed to amaze again. This is part of the reason I quit buying circulating coins from the mint, quality. The wash or rinse is still spotting coins. The few I have gone through have quite a bit of spots. Denver is leading the way with what looks like this rinse smeared across Liberty's face in parallel… -
Re: This guy kills me. Another smoking deal, or somebody smoking a deal..

from the auction description, There is quite a history and quite a pedigree that is in the initial stages of it's development concering this numismatic property. Our consignor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has passed on the following pedigree information. Years ago a vault was uncovered in a vacant house. The owner of… -
Re: Anyone else here not a big fan of slabs

As most everyone here knows, I am a strictly anti-slab collector. I have never purchased a slabbed coin and I never will. Unlike some here, I won't even buy a slabbed coin to crack out. As far as I'm concerned if a coin is in a slab it no longer exists. (Don't confuse that position with my searching for slab for my… -
Re: Things seem to have really slowed on fleabay..............
I started working on my book on 1922-D cents in the fall of 2019, scanning every eBay lot for possible new varieties, and even though the book is out I still scan the listings for interesting things. I would estimate that new listings are about 25-30% by number compared to when I started. Quality is down, and the number of…
