Re: kind of off topic..
Everyone is a bit different and what you say sounds like a grade 2. My experience is about 3-6 months for full non-surgical recovery. Younger heals quicker. My caution. Don’t rush it. It took me 3 years of setbacks to get back to 100. What does his ortho say? The location and severity play a major part in the surgery… -

Re: A Capital Plastics Photo Thread
I remember all of the custom cut Capital holders similar to the Lincoln head shown above. I recall seeing shields for shield nickels and Civil War tokens (the hoard of Greenleaf - St. Paul MN CWTs were in a shield), waving flags, cars & ships, various state outlines, animals (Buffs) and so many more for competitive… -
Ever see 151 year old gold coin "rust?"
It's not really "rust," but ocean sediment and assorted chemicals that settled over some coins that went down with the famous S.S. Central America in 1857 actually formed a protective covering. Bob Evans, the recovery mission's chief scientist and historian (and one of the really good guys of numismatics), was able to… -

Alaskan Gold Rush? nugget pin!

Found this beauty at one of my LCS. I think it dates to around the Alaskan Gold Rush Era. It tested electronically at about 18k to 19k. Weighs 6.2 grams and has a pin on the back of it. Still has some quartz attached as well. The pin is a tube hinge with a C clasp which is how I dated it to the Alaskan Gold Rush. Nuggets… -
How to define “original dies” versus “restrikes”, and can the progression of rust be an indication o
I was reading the John Adams Comitia Americana book. It is the newest prized possession in the Longacre Library, and has a place of prominence beside my collection of QDB books and RWB’s Renaissance books. In discussing the Washington Before Boston medal, Adams comments on the error involving the date on one of the dies (a… -
Old World Coins with rust - help?
Hi everyone - I'm primarily a currency guy who is getting back into US coin collecting. I was recently going through some old ziplocks of world coins I had from awhile ago and started to realize some might be collectible or at least have silver content worth noting. The bad news is that these coins have rust on them. Some…
