Customer du Jour, Jan 10 2007
We have a lot of really nice customers, one in particular is an executive with a large Utah company and passes through town here 2 or 3 times a year. About two visits ago he saw us putting 30-40 Wheat cents in zip lock bags and asked what we were doing. I explained that every year at the local Boy Scout Expo we hand out… -
Re: Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water - Chris Cipoletti now new president of a divi

<< <i>Wondering through the CoinLink website when I saw an article announcing that Rare Coin Wholesalers (RCW) has hired controversial ex-ANA Executive Director Chris Cipoletti as President of Rare Coin Consultants of America, a new division of RCW. I bet that there are some here are thinking what I'm thinking - "Ah @#$%,… -

Re: The real problem with shipping HOF Coins at the mint ?
<< <i>................................... As stated above the Mint is a business that has taken millions of dollars of orders, which it has not shipped, without any explanation to its customers as to why they have not been shipped. ............................. >> Not entirely true since the US Mint Fulfillment Center does… -
1936(d) Lincoln Cent (NGC-MS68RD): No PCGS

I was just consigned a 1936(d) Lincoln Cent grading NGC-MS68RD. The online NGC pop is 2/0 and the PCGS pop is 0. Here is another perfect example of the reality of the PCGS Lincoln Cent market today. PCGS grades very few copper Wheats in MS68RD. If PCGS were to grade a 1936(d) Lincoln in MS68RD grade (and the coin was nice… -
NOT a very smart move for PCGS, imho.......

At the risk of being banned, I have to say I was absolutely stunned to read PCGS's full page ad entitled "To all Buyers of Certified Coins...." in the April 13th issue of Numismatic News. I think PCGS has done a lot of good for the hobby, but this shows terribly poor judgement. For those of you who have not seen it, the… -
Florida couple earn pretty penny from sale of rare coin
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Nowadays, pennies aren't even worth the metal they're made with. A rare few, however, can fetch 600 million times their worth. Denis Loring and Donna Levin, of Singer Island, reaped a windfall from a copper 1792 penny the couple bought last year at a Beverly Hills auction for $437,000. Two months… -
Re: ANACS Customer Service...... What Service?
<< I just got back 2 coins from them late last week that they received on Monday, Feb. 6th. I paid for the 10-day guaranteed service plus the email notification. I never got an email notification and it took about 10 business days longer than the guarantee. I called and complained and they said I would get two free… -

What do you think about the “facts and figures” in Heritage’s recent mailing about the Milwaukee ANA
Although I was bounced from Heritage’s catalog mailing list, I seem to have not been cut off from the regular slew of propaganda that they mail out. Yesterday I received a nice glossy brochure from Heritage indicating why I should consign my rarities to their auction at the Milwaukee ANA. The brochure was very well…
