Re: Beware of Jerome F. Brown (oldguy)
Jim, Get over it. He offered to refund your money on any Unopened boxes. 28% of the sets you received were crappy, you opened the sealed boxes up. The seller is correct, you should have E-Mailed him right away before you opened any more boxes. As for the sets with haze, you opened them, you own them. As for not buying… -
Re: More discussion re. relative scarcity of Roman Imperial coins & how to map out a new set
Thank you for your post John, and to Lordmarcovan for the link... Both now make me even more worried about buying ancient coins! I can spot most suspect German coins from the proverbial "mile away" (except maybe the grade of a legite coin from a pic). But I have had little (read, no real) experience in ancients. I have to… -
Re: Opinions wanted on coin images
<<Not sure what you mean by reflections and blackspots?>> Glare and reflections are different degrees of the same thing. A mild or normal reflection makes the surface look shiny. If the reflection is too strong it becomes glare. Proof coin surfaces show up black in photographs because of the extreme shine. Black spots on… -

Complete Set of American Silver Eagles (Regular bullion strikes) 1986-2020 in Dansco Album w/slipcase. Re: Why in the HECK are 20th SAE Sets going for $175 on ebay????????
1. They may no longer be available 2. Because there are so many 68 grades, folks are paying 400+ for PCGS graded sets with all 69 grades First Strikes In addition a number of sets are found with milk spots on the coins. 3. the PCGS graded PR-70DCAM is going for 1000+ by itself 4. The PCGS graded Reverse Proof-70 is going… -
Re: What should I do with this Fugly Kennedy Half?
I said it was a dog. Did you think I was lying? You could send it in for grade guarantee and make some money. Market value is about $100. For those that are interested, it's one that grew opaque milk spots after it was slabbed. They are caused by impurities from the planchet rinsing process the mint used at the time.… -

NGC tough on ASE's

I was under the impression that NGC handed out 70's like candy. Bought 50 from the Slaughter House, narrowed it down to 10 gems. These things are flawless, WTF. So do I resubmit and play the fee game? Why don't TPG's come out and say it, the more you spend on fee's, the better the grades. I called NGC today and asked for… -
Grade guarantee
I know PCGS guarantees grades and offers full or partial refunds between the graded value, and the new, lower value of a coin, but what happens if I have an ugly looking coin that was graded by PCGS that can be 'fixed'?? I have one now that developed milk spots (I assume after grading) that I want to keep but not in the…
