Re: Returns on a slabbed coin that turned out to be altered
I feel your pain Illini The only bad situation I have had sortta like this was a 1796 quarter I sold...actually traded a guy over 10 years ago. It was the rarer variety. It was a nice original coin that had been contemporarly bent and circulated long after. It probably had VG10 details. We did a retail trade in the 6K… -
Playing dealer this weekend at the Tukwila show - had a good time!

Set up for the 1st time at a show, got a good location and enough extra space on the table that Bochiman joined me. 1/3 of the case was educational, teaching people about rare holders and hoping that down the road someone will offer me a piece or 2. It was interesting being on the other side of the table - most people were… -
Re: Summer Solstice 2014 Newps

More thanks guys! I hadn`t heard of the history Slammer but it`s the very first time I have seen it as well... Rick funny you should ask that... It is getting to be a challenge to remember all the different names on my Morgans... Some I will always remember but as I get more and more it`s getting harder... Anyway as soon… -
Re: I have a strong feeling in the pit of my stomach that the Bronco's will choke and lose the AFC West
It was very painful watching the Broncos step onto the sacrificial alter last night and get carved up. Actually I am glad that they lost. They clearly do not deserve to be in the playoffs this year. Too many injuries and a lousy defense. Maybe next year they will rebound and make the playoffs. As for the Bolts, they are on… -
Re: .
I'd still be here, but there is a distinct possibility that I might not be a paying member after 2010, since I am (for the most part) done slabbing except for the occasional upgrade or new piece. "Chicken/egg" : Until a couple of years ago, I had only one year of membership with PCGS (and that was to grade 3 specific… -
Re: Alternative to eBay

I appreciate your comments... I enjoy dialogue << <i> << <i>and if I'm not mistaken, you have as well. There are just too many problems with these sites; >> you are mistaken, for me at least. i really am not meaning to be combative or argumentative but i am of the VERY strong opinion that most of the time when i hear… -
Re: post office jip
Best not to give up yet. You have TWO shots at appeals. It is entirely possible, despite denials from the USPS, that from time to time employees are "encouraged" to deny ALL incoming claims that fall within certain guidelines. Since MOST folks give-up when their first filing is denied, ALL insurance companies use such… -
Re: 1989 Score Football Rookies
No I did not see that link thanks for showing me, now the hassle makes sense!! It's untrue but makes sense. Since no one bothered to ask me my opinion on the validity of Lee's accusations I'll respond. Those packs were ABSOLUTELY NOT opened regardless of what Lee said. Lee initially presented as a very reasonable person,… -
Re: If your grading opinion doesn't match the market, are you wrong?

DHeath There is clearly 2 different standards being used here. Us old timers are stuck back in the dinosaur days with our "coins we've seen, books we've read, knowledge of the series we collect" etc. We're happy with that because that is what we know and besides it's much easier to tech grade a coin than try to second… -
Re: 1888-s Morgan Dollar

newbies aren't permitted to post pictures, a common feature of most online forums to prevent spammers, shenanigans etc. a very nice and respectful post. i'll take the other approach. :o your coin is counterfeit and of the 6,000+ known vams, not ONE has a clash mark even remotely similar to that clashed O, especially for an…
