Re: Migration From Moderns to Bust or Seated Coinage

I’m curious, what about that picture tells you that the coin has been cleaned. Is it the crap around the stars or that it seems to shine without any luster? I don't collect this series, so others will provide a more informed response. But I am certain from those pictures the coin was cleaned. And the first tell is, as you… -
Re: Your worst shipping nightmare
One of these posts reminded me of another horror story. This time my early naivete had nothing to do with it. Bought a vintage SGC card from import_export_co. They didn't ship it, didn't ship it, didn't ship it. Kept on stringing me along with reassuring e-mails until PayPal's 30-day chargeback period expired. PayPal was… -
Re: Strange case of the 1925-S Buffalo nickel
<< <i>I don't know how long it takes to do something like this, but I imagine it would take a couple of hours, what with the precision required and the tediousness of positioning everything just right. >> Not as long as you might think. Drill press type set up and a monted jig for holding the coin. Use a band saw to slice… -
Re: Oh no, why did this guy win my auction...
Zef, I don't have an answer for your dilemma. I would like to see ebay change their block bidders policy to something like.... as soon as you (the seller) is getting strung along on a non payment issue, you can file the NPB alert and add the deadbeat to your blocked bidder list. Which in turn would automatically block this… -
Re: I just won the Syracuse wheat cent hoard!

And for the "page 2" repsonders: Thanks to Outhaul and MrKelso for posting the link. I'm still creeping my way into the skills of communicating in cyberspace. Outhaul: Your "Ten Steps" are hilarious and would probably be very effective (in a P. T. Barnum sort of way) at generating a profit. I'm just not profit-motivated… -
Re: The Dorkkarl Ethics Poll..............
My input, on the ethics thread, in case y'all don't read it, as follows: Let us relax a little, step back and.... Before there were 'Dealers' there were Collectors. The 'Business' is a result of the Customer....the Collector. If the 'Business' shams the Customer, you get what you give. To those 'Dealers' that take offense;… -
Re: Blurryface vs ringer should be embarrassed
so you're not denying your previous name calling comment, correct? how could i not put you in the "questionable" category? with that being said, after suggesting 18 chrome prior to you even entering the thread & never calling you a name, i still answered your concern in a respectful manner. but then you wanted to… -
Re: Ebay delists 9 of my auctions, over $10,000 worth of coins in the last day of the auctions
<< <i> << <i>Russ, Isn't this the message they send? >> That's the message sent to sellers. The message sent to buyers is different, and is used for multiple categories. Russ, NCNE >> Actually, Russ, I don't think that's true in all cases. I had a bunch of Stores listings yanked in mid-October for not having full slab… -

<< <i> The editorial mentioned that the coin industry is wholly unregulated (which, in my opinion, is the root of many of the problems in the numismatic world), and in order to prevent the government from intervening, the coin industry should take more proactive steps to self regulate. >> The "coin industry"? Re: Reducing PCGS counterfeits on ebay
<< <i> I'm sure there's a marketing formula somewhere that would convince PCGS that there is $$ value in proceeding. >> Then we don't need the formula if you already know the result is that PCGS should be taking action. But I don't think the business decision is that clear. PCGS would have to budget to staff such an…
