Re: It's the end of the world as we know it: Jeter wins Gold Glove
Jeter did have a somewhat reasonable cause for getting a GG award, depending on one's personal evaluation methods. His very large popularity was foremost, the fact that he was a prior winner also helped greatly. He did lead the AL in Fldg Pct., and also in Zone rate, however, he was just 8th among the 100+ game started SS… -

Re: Big Mac = Barry Bonds ???

Ozzie Smith was arguably the best fielding SS in the history of baseball, with 580 stolen bases, 13 gold gloves and he was a 15-time All Star playing one of the toughest… -
Re: If we're going to put Bill Mazeroski in the HOF, shouldn't Jim Kaat be in also (for the same reasons
<< <i>I recall vividly the events leading up to Mazeroski getting elected into the Hall of Fame. For a long time he didn't come close, then Ozzie Smith got in on the first ballot. How does a guy like Ozzie Smith get into the Hall with a lifetime batting average of .262 and only 28 HR's? The answer was easy - he was… -

Re: Was Billy Williams better than Ernie Banks?
It's not really double because WPA is really expressed over average. Think of it like this. If Banks drove in 100 runs and Williams drove in 120, you wouldn't think Williams was "DOUBLE" Banks. However, if the league average hitter drove in 78 runs, then that makes Banks 28% over average, and Williams was 54% over… -
