Re: 1952 Washington opinions please
I agree that it is potentially in the strong MS-65 range except the possible issue of George's cheekbone. Is there a ridge of a rub line there or not? I cannot tell as I cannot tilt the coin to get a better look. If it is there as opposed to a shadow then the coin could go as low as MS-62. Also the coin could benefit from… -
Re: Proof Ike $1 Dipped in e.Z.est B4 and AftR Pix...
<< <i>I'd like to see it tried on silver eagles -- milk spot removal? Anyone? >> I have a bunch of Silver Eagles, but so far (knock on wood) no milk spots. Here's another image. This one had even worse toning. It's an Unc. Ike and received the same treatment as the others. One bad side-effect is that all of the ugly bag… -
Re: Another dumb Newbie question about cleaning.
Yes. And milk spotted eagles are only a defect now because it's "modern junk". If the silver eagles were 50-100 years old, the milk spots would be the proper way the coins age. And they'd be desirable. And 100 years ago museum curators were polishing coins with the same thought process. There isn't a dip or liquid made… -
Re: **UPDATE** Huckster at Work on EBay, Folks! You make the call!
Nope, HE WILL NOT REFUND. I've had the coins 4 hours when I alerted him of the coin he sent as being flawed and NOT as described. When I sent him the Pictures, this response was: "I just saw these photos. I can definitely assure you that is a HUGE milk spot that was not there for absolutely SURE when I mailed it. My… -
Re: **The Official Nat'l Purple Heart Hall of Honor 2022 Comm. Thread**2nd round Colorized in hand!
Got my coins yesterday - the other extra halves are inbound yet. I think that pic of the "mail room" isnt too far off the mark - very sloppy pkging. 2 coins were still in the capsules, but loose in the small mint box. The regular silver$ was loose and partially out of the capsule. Black fibers were all over the capsule and… -
Purchased older GEM Silver eagles - noticed some flaw
Hello All, I wanted to get your opinion on a recent Silver eagle purchase I made. I have been filling in some back dated issues for a set of Silver Eagles my grandfather hooked me on. I received them in the mail today and I noticed a few flaw. Mainly: -In some cases boxes are damaged (writing on the boxes and surfaces… -
Re: Would you keep this Frosty Franklin or cash out now that silver is over $100.00 per ounce?
As a cameo, it is a $90-$100 coin without the milk spot. I’d probably wait until melt value hit around $75-$80 for it. I agree with you it warrants a CAM grade despite the label. Now if it was an unfrosted PF67, it would be a different story. The melt calculator had it at $47 earlier and the last PF67 at auction sold for… -
Gorgeous "toned" brand new Bessie Coleman quarter - What am I seeing here?!

I finally got a bunch of solid rolls of fresh ALL blast white Bessies here in Denver. Considering these are only a few weeks old...how is this possible?! It is PERFECTLY toned an absolutely beautiful light olive yellowish on the reverse, it's 100% perfectly covering the entire reverse. It's also the ONLY one I've seen with… -
