Re: Recent PSA grading results
Isn't it kinda strange that you subscribe to get the lower rate on grading, yet at the same time your subscription buys you the worst possible turn around times? If I were to sub today I'd expect that I'd get my cards back in time for Christmas rush. The turnaround time for subbing value, the level my subscription buys,… -

Re: advice/opinions 52 Berk Ross
Frank, While you're correct that the 1951 Berk Ross cards were sold as a boxed set, I believe you're wrong about the 1952 Berk Ross being a "collectors' issue." They were actually unlicensed cards that were given away with various products, according to a contemporary lawsuit. Here's the blog entry I did a year ago on the… -

Re: What effect, if any, does die rust have on the grade/perception/market-ability of a coin?

My opinion...if you have two seemingly equal coins sitting next to each other where the only difference was that one was struck with nice clean dies and the other was struck with rusted dies...I would select the one that was struck with rust-free dies. A hypothetical to answer your hypothetical. It seems I'm the crazy… -
J C Caroline 1953 NCAA Rushing Leader
Sad hear J. C. Caroline passes away. He had an electrifying season at Illinois in 1953 rushing for 1256 yards-still unbelievable that he finished 7th in the Heisman balloting which just does not pass the straight face test. I looked at the Ohio State Football record book on line... And some of the records made and have… -
Re: Happy Father’s Day. Few MS 68 Clad Ike Dollars are graded. Still they don’t sell @ Their Value !!
The trend is strongly toward it because the demand is grass roots. So far the demand is centered at the "nice chBU" level but these are far scarcer than most people realize but more relevantly as the demand grows it grows organically into higher and lower grades as well. There are already thousands of BU collectors and… -
Re: AG $10 swings the new normal?
I'm just very glad I bought deals when it peaked so I'm living the gambler's dream of breaking even for the time being. I can't imagine what coin shops are going through right now. I would be buying more at these prices if I didn't have such a garbage spring season. I can't help but feel we will be stuck here for awhile… -
Re: Question About Die Rust-->HELP!
I understand you want a quick and dirty answer, but it is impossible to generalize about your inquiry. Quick example. a set of dies taken from the press and stored in a damp mint basement might show visible signs of rusting in as little as a year. Those same dies if lightly oiled and placed in the same basement might… -
