spot price likely to decline in the short term as dollar index predictions for the short term have the DI moving from it's current 98.50 to up to 104.00. Be interesting to see if premiums hold as spot falls. This will actually indicate an increase in premiums. -
Re: dropped letter errors
A dropped digit happens when the recess of the die fills with crud and falls out onto a planchet. Since this crud has been hardened from the constant heat & pounding of the dies it is almost as hard as steel and leaves it's imprint in the surface of the coin. -

MS63 max. Edited, was rushed for time. I'll say that these dollars from this date/mint come hammered. This is not one of those. Well used obverse and reverse dies. I'll deduct one point just because it falls under the norm. bob -

They are overpolished dies, juat like the 37D buffalo with the missing leg. There are a lot of other anomalies caused by overpolished dies that nobody cares about, like throatless Lincolns and raised roof Lincolns just to name a couple. I guess some catch on, others don't.
