Re: Mighty big nugget in Sacramento

Nice shot of it: _________________________ During the mad, mid-1800s scramble for gold in the Sierra foothills, Washington - located about 10 miles northeast of Nevada City - was a bustling treasure hunters' town of 3,000. Dozens of huge nuggets were found all over the mountain range during those halcyon days, the biggest… -
Re: State of the Hobby: Where Have All the Kids Gone?
There are several valid points in your article, but I'd have to say that I disagree with the issue of price being the sole reason, or even primary reason, for the small numbers of kid collectors. It is a factor, but not directly in the sense that the cards are simply too expensive. Aside from the questionable assumption… -
Re: Longest MLB home run you witnessed at a game you attended-
In 1951 the Yankees played the USC varsity. Mantle hit one that went 650 ft. If you go to INSIDEUSC by SCOT WOLF you can read about it on today's topics with a picture of the Mick rounding third base. I'm allowed on the blog as many of the guys know me because I helped them up after I crushed them. They don't forget. We've… -

Get up at coin show, go for morning run, beat RYK by about 2 minutes per mile. Go to Starbucks. Go to nearest archives and find lots of cool coin stuff no one has seen before. Go to coin show and get first shot at every deal on the floor. Flip a bunch of them for big bucks. Eat steak with friends. Repeat. -

I've always had a lot of love for his '56 Topps card, it's the card kids were pullin' out of packs when The Mick was having his best season, and it's the first Topps card of him in 3 years, and ya gotta love the image: a great smile on him, the amazing catch he's making in the action shot, the autograph, it all adds up to… -
Re: Anyone have any Cameo Merc and Cameo Walker pics?
I love cameos before the "sandblast-the-snot-out-of-the-devices-so-they-CAN'T-mirror" ultra-modern proof coin era. The cameo effect on older coins is just SO much nicer. These walkers (even those that didn't quite make the actual designation) are a great example. Compare the smooth milky devices on them to the… -

My take on the Michigan coaching search.
It's going to be an interesting road to a new head coach. For example, will Michigan opt for a Carr with Les Miles? Or will they go down another road instead with TedFORD. As an Ohio State fan, I would love to see them choose a "mini-Cooper". Regardless of the ride, next fall they could find themselves Gruden on a Saturday… -
