Re: Congratulations to silver! New all time high: $120+!!!
Well yeah on hold, can you read the date and time of the edited post? He just put it on hold. As for the tokens can you guarantee that you treat the blanks so they don't develop those nasty milk spots, toning etc. And just noticed spot: The way things are going looks like that dude was lucky to get the 65x when he did.… -
Re: NEW PCGS SLABS - SECURITY
<< <i>Made from a new blend of crystal-clear, scratch-resistant plastic that’s tested to be 99.99% chemically-inert. I hope they reduce the incidence of milk spots. >> In the video Don says they tested it in a eco chamber with accelerated aging and this cuts way down on the milk spotting issues. It's also "completely… -

Re: Storing, protecting, displaying my coins
It seems no matter how you store your ASEs, they will develop milk spots. Many threads on this one if you do a search on "milk spots". I really liked the series but sold off my ASE proofs and MS that were in PCGS slabs. As far as other coins go, the Intercept Shield products seem to be a good choice. BTW, welcome to the… -
Re: A touchy quesion...
I've always considered dipping a coin to be a conservation step. Every Silver Eagle I own gets dipped to eliminate or at the very minimum "reduce" the possibility of Milk Spotting. Unlike toning, once an SAE spots, the coin is ruined. Some Silver Kennedy Proofs as well as some Eisenhower Proof and BU Silver coins are also… -
Re: It's about damned time I got a decent eBay score.

<< <i> << <i>Was I correct in attributing this one as an Accented HAir? >> You were indeed. I see it has the milk spots that are so common on these, though. Bummer. << <i>Does that mean all AH Kennedies are doubled dies? >> Right again! >> Thanks, Russ. Well cool, now I have a rationale for hoarding them, too. I need to… -
Re: 2000 Silver Eagle PCGS MS70 POP 1 at $19,500 and two days to go!
Crazy what a label will bring. What are the chances if cracked out and resubmitted it comes back a 69? Never understood the whole 70 bullion thing, maybe I should submit my two albums, one 70 would be worth the effort. Then toss in the milk spot issue, 1 milk spot wipes away the 70 grade. To each his own. -
Re: Flips, 2X2 or what do you like?
That would be an Air Tite holder and I use 'em too. The ones in your images have the insert. They also make holders without the rubberized insert. Some prefer this due to their alleged association with milk spotting. However, I 've had my ASEs in 'em for more than a decade on so far no milk spots. << <i>I like this… -
Re: First submission to PCGS.....any tips?
If you REALLY want good grades, you have to wrap each coin in a $100 bill! Otherwise, you're going to have to get lucky! LOL Since you're sending in silver eagles, you might want to clean them first. WHAT?!!! Clean coins?! The silver eagels get milk spots on them, sometimes in very short order. Russ has said he takes the… -
Re: ASE Eagles Upgrades???
aus3000tin, when PCGS changed their policy, it covered literally ANY Silver Eagle coin that had been graded under the old policy. So, if I had a 2000 or 2001 which I thought had a chance at an upgrade, just by virtue of being a Silver Eagle, it qualifies. The certification number has little to do with it as much as PCGS's…
