Re: 1883/2 Shield Nickel - Please Confirm!
Would be much better if you could provide a high-res photo of the date area of the coin. But based on the apparent date position, I am reasonably confident that you do not have an 1883/2. Motto doubling is extremely common on 1883s, as are filled 8s. They are useless as die markers for 1883/2. Howard P.S. At least your… -
1849 Open Wreath Gold Dollar D-2 Variety G$1 NGC MS62**Scarce Variety**

This is one of the scarcer varieties of the 1849 gold dollar discovered by John Danreuther. It is the D-2 or Danreuther Obverse 2, 1849 With L, Narrow Border, Normal Stars, Concave Field. The D-2 and D-3 are the rarest of the four Philadelphia mint varieties (see attached article from the Guidebook to Gold Dollars-Bowers).… -

Beautiful Array of Type Pieces on eBay (MS61 Fugio, 2 Nearly Red 1/2Cs, LOTS more); 2 Morgans FSH
Link to my auctions Two morgans for sale here: 1880-S PCGS MS65... $315 I bought this coin because it had similar colors to a pair that I already own, but, alas, they don't match as well as I'd like. Nonetheless, the coin is superb, technically and visually. As I see it, there is *just* a tad too much chatter in the fields… -
Re: Really cool Canadian toner at GC this week.
I think this is the wrong forum for your post but regardless, The 1971, 2 and 3 prestige sets were encased in a red flocked display case. The flocking seemed to have an effect on the nickel dollar that severely toned it. There are probably more toned dollars than those without toning. In 1974 the mint reverted to a black… -
1922-D Lincoln Cent- Die Pair 2 EDS?

I picked this up at a shop earlier today because I found it interesting. It has a strong reverse and the obverse displays many of the PUP's for die pair 2, along with a 'weak' D mintmark that appears to be on its way to being polished off the die entirely. 'Liberty' and the date are very close (though the L doesn't touch… -
