Re: How do you think this Franklin proof will look after a dip? Updated with "after" pictures!
Don't know much about ezest and acetone is useless for getting rid of milk spots and discoloration like your coin exhibits. Have you considered cloudy ammonia, ie ammonia with a soapy detergent in it. I'm gonna give that a try on some RCM maples that are badly milk-spotted, acetone did zero for that. -

Re: Spots On ASE?

<< <i>Would MS70 or any other gentle cleaners be able to safely remove milk spots or nay? >> NO product on the planet will remove a milk spot safely once it has developed.... PERIOD . The first person to figure out a way to remove them without altering the coins's surface is going to potentially make a lot of money -
Re: Hands down DCAM Accent Hair Kennedy

Milk spots suck. Hey, who's the weasel that has to pee??? That would be Tevo- but he actually likes stouts and porters, not that lightweight crap Marty has him drinking..... And Marty- why would milk spots interfere with a coin going dcam? Shouldn't it just come down to mirror depth, contrast, and frost on devices?? -

I have a wonderful high grade frankie cam 1963 67 star and noticed a little spot that wasn't there before, also many other top… -

Re: I want to dip some ASE's
I've heard that the milk spotting is related to some type of rinse that the US Mint uses for silver. It may be related to mass production of these coins and something does not get completely rinsed from the coins. This is not isolated to SAE's as 40% Silver Eisenhowers and 90% Proof Kennedy Halves also develop milk spots. -
Re: Carbon spots on CAC’d gold

Here's my understanding. There is a carbon spot on this San Diego silver commem. It's a bit over Liberty's belly button. As you can see, it's pretty innocuous and the coin got a green sticker. (There's another small one under Liberty's left armpit.) Carbon spots are the color of carbon........ black. Funny thing, in… -
Re: Daniel Carr finally issues 1964-D fantasy overstrike
Off track of the current subject matter but I need to clarify a photo I posted earlier. The photo with the title Milk Spot was not really a milk spot. A little prodding with a tooth pick proved it to be something which had been struck into the coins surface. Daniel, please, no more eating while your working. OK?
