Re: Why do people consign coins to auction houses?
Who can afford to consign coins????? I agree with most of what you posted. But as I get older and desire to spend my time on endeavors that I enjoy, I let others do some of the things I used to do. My time now has a higher value to me. So I can imagine that many people are more than happy to send coins off to an auction… -
Re: trillion dollar coins
Nothing is free - the day the balance is due will eventually come. I continue to marvel at how long the scammers can drag out the ponzi scheme and at how the American people are willing to shut their eyes so tightly, in the hope that it's really not a freight train and that they really aren't standing right on the tracks… -
Re: Authentic or Reproducation? - 1793 Chain Cent (Answer Revealed in 1st Post)

For what it's worth, that does look like an old school tooling job. Meticulous handwork like that is less common with today's breed of scammers. << <i>Nobody told them that the lettering wears before the chain. >> Maybe that's why the letters got extensively reworked, too? The tooling here is the wild card- it obscures any… -
Re: Nice wax
He's bought product from a variety of sources, so all packs may not be authentic, but I still believe at least most are. I do know he is not a resealer like the more notorious scammers on ebay, and a lot of his stuff is graded and from reputable sources, but again, as BWF alluded to as well, his BIN prices are way too… -

Re: Bid retracted on ebay lot I'm bidding on - What to do! - Saga continues
John , If its a card you want ,then I would buy it. This sounds like a group ( collusion )effort to shill the price up. With ebay's wonderful new hidden , protect the scammers policy, I would learn how to be a pro-sniper, otherwise be prepared to pay higher and higher prices as this is now protected behavior. This exact… -
Re: I will not make friends on Ebay with this ad language. GW dollar warning to buyers.
I have only one suggestion. << <i>NOTE: The reverse letter coins being sold as errors ARE NOT ERRORS. One half of the normal George Washington coins >> What are reverse letter coins? We all know what you are talking about but a lot of the people being scammed do not. I would suggest. NOTE: The "Upside down letter" coins… -
Re: I suppose I should be flattered....
"Given how lax they are about protecting their price guide as "intellectual property" when scammers quote PCGS prices for third world MS-70 coins, I have trouble believing they'd get worked up about this, either. " That is true, although with regard to the popluation numbers, for example, Heritage uses that information in… -
Re: Deadbeat buyer refuses to pay for coins **UPDATE!**
cash the check with his associated national bank for the cash, DO NOT deposit the check into your account. your looking for a bigger headache with a bounced interstate check. If the associated bank says he doesn't have enough funds, or if he doesn't have a national bank, open up an account at his bank, call them up,… -
Re: I got ripped!!!

<< <i>I bought them at my shop and had no idea they were counterfeitable. Bought them from a walk in woman with her son (about 12 years old my guess) She said he got them from his grandmother when she passed away. I had no inkling at all that they would be fake. >> Based on what I've heard, I'm just guessing that the lady…
