Re: Disturbing dealer on eBay ........OUTED !
<< <i>OP states that the seller was offering a 90 day return policy so that the buyer can have the item slabbed... that's certainly not the usual MO of a scammer. Why not link to the item in question? There seems to be no need for cloak and dagger here considering you were refunded. >> ...the seller with a feedback of over… -
Re: EBAY private auction coin sale
Yep, I'll add my voice to the choir. While there can be legitimate reasons for private bidding, it's also a breeding ground for scammers, shillers and others who are doing things that aren't usually in a bidder's best interest. If you examine the record of a known scammer, fake seller, et cetera, you'll notice they VERY… -
Re: another stolen scan ?
phreakydancin - I'll admit that I didn't know the meaning of the word "ephemera"and didn't look it up. I was hoping it was some disease that this scammer came down with. After seeing the definition, he didn't even use the word correctly because although baseball cards were often thrown out by Moms, etc., they weren't… -
SCAMS - How does one protect themself?
Being new to coin collecting I've been doing a lot (or alot haha) of reading here in the forum? It seems every day I come across threds about ebay scams. Some things just shout SCAM...like a brand new ebayer w/ no feedback selling a very rare coin worth $11,000. But then there are times when someone with an 2 year old ebay… -
Re: Remember Favrefan's Woodchuck story? Update entered.
But chances are they will bust this sellers b*lls while letting real scammers get away with murder. Good luck with your auction. So true! Ebay's only "rule" is that they make as much money as possible. The honest guy gets screwed over and the scammers clean up. There are many sellers who consistently sell resealed garbage… -
Re: Questions on PSA Cert #s
<< <i>Some set participants like to cover the cert # when they scan their cards to deter image theft. I guess some less scrupulous individuals will steal scans and list them on the bay to rip people off. >> Exactly. I like to show the cards in my PSA sets, but more than once I discovered that one of my big-ticket cards was… -
Re: Beware Scam (skip over if sick of eBay talk)
this has happened to me before. you do have to call in and inform them that it was sent to a wrong address and that address is no way associated w/ your info. same scenario. actual UPS label but showed delivered to an address across town. UPS also does deliver to certain PO boxes located within UPS stores. the scammer… -
Re: Unbelievable....you may want to block this guy.......UPDATE 4/23/09 in first post...WE WIN
The consensus here is that the buyer is a scammer. I agree with that conclusion. The only way to get him to return the silver, or drop the SNAD claim, is to hit him with so much legal stuff that he finds that it is better for him to return the silver or drop the claim, than put up with all of the legal stuff. So you need… -
Re: I admit...I laugh when I see things like this in coin auctions on ebay...
"Maybe they think the buyer will have the integrity to not insist on being compensated for a loss if they decline to buy insurance? I know- it's a stretch, but stranger things have happened. " It is not always a question of the integrity of the buyer, but also trust in an unkown person (the seller). Coins not received will… -
Re: What is going on at sporting events lately?
Some have stated they've been to ballparks many times. Well so have I. There is an unspoken rule of cordiality amongst the fans, even on a home run ball. That guy clearly violated that rule by being in a place which he shouldn't have been. He belonged in his own dam seat, or the small area around his seat, not ten rows…
