Re: Organization for collectors

I could also see where the grading companies, auction houses, ebay and manufactures might listen to an well organized groups complaints or "wish lists" a little harder ... than they would a few collectors throwing stones on message boards. Of course it would take some time to reach that position, but if it worked... it… -
Re: Anyone else get an email from PayPal today?

I got scammed last week from pay pal, but realized it 5-10 minutes later and called PP then called C1 and canceled my card. later on the 13th someone charged 195 bucks worth of stuff to my C1 account. didn't find out about the new charge until this morning when I logged onto my account to pay my bill, just got the new… -
Re: Are any members of the forum collecting coins from eBay?
Speaking from the point of view of an early type coin collector, I bought 75 % of my coins from ebay as recently as 2002. Now it's less than 5 %. There is just nothing but overpriced grabage on there as far as type coins go. I'm sick and tired of seeing big dealers retailing low-end slabbed type for 40% over Ask, like they… -
Re: Do you think we now have more scams on ebay than before?
kiyote: If you clearly describe to people what they're going to get, and they bid anyway, that's not a scam. An item's value, after all, is determined by what people will pay for it. However, if you bid on a Playstation, and receive a box with a brick in it for your trouble, then that is a scam, by any definition. I think… -
Re: I don't know...maybe it can't be fixed
Mike; First, let me say thanks for your hard work to thwart these crooks. It sounds like you have had more than a modicum of success. And you're right. If enough people make enough noise, authorities will respond. But, they don't make it easy. At least per my experience. I was victimized by a scammer in RI. Not trimming.… -
Re: .
I guess I just have to be the bad guy here, but I couldn't disgaree more...I've found him to be difficult and frustrating to the point that I had to block him on IM just to remind myself. I have a local dealer who agrees completely and frequents this board; he was just telling me last week how he is totally done dealing… -
Re: Newly found branch mint proof specimen?? TAKE A LOOK!
Well Barucci911 You can understand the skepticism you are encountering. Not saying its justified or even legitimate. On the Board is well over 1000 years of experience and 100's of members who have spent their entire lives looking at coins and collecting with passion. Many have written articles and books on the subject.… -
Re: PLEASE HELP! Do coins actually have a grade? A GRADE - NOT A VALUE!
I could tear the OP apart, but all it would do would be to start another fight. Like it or not these factors lower or limit how high the grade can be. * strike * luster * number of surface marks * rub * damage beyond normal wear and tear The first two can keep a mark-free, straight from the dies coin from grading any… -
Re: Shipping charge includes 65 cents for gas...
Well, today eBay customer support ruled in my favor, so I got back my costs including shipping. When I saw the seller's full name, it gave me a mild shock. The seller, Tom Yriarte, has a brother named Rodney. Three years ago, I won a 1971 OPC #709 Baylor/Baker rookie from Rodney for a very reasonable price of $150. I pay… -
Re: Ignore

Clackamas, If you exceeded a return window becasue you were out of town, that was strictly your responsibility. If that was going to be an issue it had to be stated up front with the seller. I have found ebay sellers less and less willing to allow returns unless they explicitly state so in the auction policies. It is…
