Re: ATTEMPT to CONFIRM PLAT MINTAGES
I agree, I think ‘7by8’ is a scammer trying to shake for Plat coins. I did a search and went through his posts. It is quite obvious to me he is playing many here for fools. There is a lot of money involved with owning these coins and some will stop at nothing to put doubt into the minds of weak Plat holders. It is too bad… -
Re: Serious Topic: POSSIBLE eBay SHILL ALERT - Seller "harborcoin", Bidder "brandond483&q
Quite a dichotomy. On one hand he is a member of the League of Extraordinary Gentleman (lol), and on the other hand a hypster or scammer or both. You be the judge. Simply put, you either shoot squarely all the time with each customer, or you don't. I'm still trying to get the raw flowing hair half he sold me into a holder… -
Re: Post your favorite Game-Used Jersey cards...
<< <i>Some nice cards in this thread, but I personally lost interested in GU after seeing all the doctored cards out there. It's a real shame, you can pull an awesome card and there may always be someone wondering if it is real or doctored. A few years ago, I remember seeing a seller have two cards on ebay one with the top… -

Re: UPDATED w/ COIN: Why was I willing to pay $50 for this...?
<< <i>So now the question is, if this is an error by the seller are there any ethical obligations here? >> In my opinion, the seller needs follow through with the deal. He says that I will receive the coin pictured, and also lists the serial number of the coin pictured. We all make these mistakes a couple times in life. I… -
Re: Yet another 1953 Mantle Fraud
<< <i>Perhaps the winner of Mickey's auction is fully aware this is a scam auction, and is working on saving others from being ripped off - if he intends to win but not pay, stick the scam seller with the FVF, and then get the seller booted from ebay, he's doing a great public service. >> Nick, that makes more sense than… -
Re: Advice regarding "unsearched" coins on Ebay

Welcome.!! I tried a few lots on ebay before and for the most part you get circulated common coins. Worth just around price paid (+/-) if you could actually get full retail on such coins based on book value. I refuse to believe any of the lots sold are un-searched (with minor exceptions like Deadhorse's example). I think… -
Re: Is what this Ebay seller is doing, "ok"? Most definitely not...
Is this OK? Not in my eyes. It is unethical to present an item at a certain grade, and not deliver a coin anywhere close. Is it legal? Sure. As so many have said grading is an opinion. It is not black and white and who is to say that is not what the seller believes it to be. Maybe he bought it holdered that way and really… -
Re: Ebay disussion board war, T&S vs. C&PM
Panamabeachbum, since you're new, I'll point out that if this belongs anywhere in the CU forums, it belongs over in the Open Forum. The arcane feuds of another site aren't really relevant here. ebayman: The same goes for you ... and in spades! Your posts suggest that what PBB and CPC posted about your T&S crew is probably… -
Re: Social Media and Coin Collecting
Facebook marketplace, agree. However there are some really great private numismatic groups on Facebook where the moderators are actively keeping scammers and suspicious accounts out of the group, helping to mediate any issues between buyers and sellers, and vetting all the posts to make sure no counterfeits are being sold…
