Acetone may remove haze if it is organic in nature like grease or oil. Milk spots are silver chloride and won't be removed with acetone. Dipping in EZest is said to prevent milk spots from forming. -

I don't think those are milk-spots, but I would still try the acetone. whatever it is, if not milk-spots, let the coin soak in a covered container for awhile. it looks heavy. -
not milk but carbon?..must not affect grading?
this is an inexpensive proof (06-W ASE 20th label) has been to PCGS for "spot review" / guarantee....twice. the first time it had milk on the mirror edges. now this coin has carbon(?) spots and i sent it back a second time. the review process only took 4 weeks this time, and the coin came back the same way it went… -

The best way to get rid of milk spots is to sell the coin ( To Mad Marty) I belive that milk spots is caused by soap residue left over from washing the proof planchets. They are struck into the coin. -

The truth is they can say the same to all these ms70 grades of all these milk spotted silver coins. After milk spot it's only worth silver weight with some exceptions to low mintages etc. -

it's not that there are no MS70 quality coins but PCGS has decided to call them all 69 because of FOMS (Fear of Milk Spots). Until pcgs is convinced the mint has the milk spot issue under control, there won't be one. -
ASE's and PCGS
Anyone had any experience with PCGS, Silver Eagles, and milk spots? I guess what I am asking is this, does PCGS cover you if your Silver Eagles spots on their slab. I understand that it isn't their fault it happens, crappy US Mint productions are at fault, but are there any type of protections from this? Just wondering… -
