Re: Did any of you notice any unusual Mickey Mantle cards at the 2015 National? Please elaborate.
I recall seeing a Mantle mask at the big Philadelphia show at the packed George Washington Motor Lodge in 88. It looked like it was the worse for wear, perhaps cracked a little here and there. My vague memory of over 25 years past is that Mantle's face was by then pretty worn. However, Bishop's specimen looks top notch.… -
Eyeballing as a kid.....no detector needed!
Okay, here's my story. Perhaps you'd share one of yours with us? A little background first. My family is from Carson City, but I was born in the SF bay area when Dad was building troop ships at the SF shipyards during WWII. So, spent many years there before moving to Carson as a teen. No pics, just a read about an 8 year… -

Re: Donations accepted here to assist homeless Charley victims

Hi All, My wife and I just returned a little while ago to my brothers house in merit island. There have been quite a few donations made via pay pal and some people sent checks to my home address and they were actually delivered! The mail carrier was applauded and cheered coming down the street. I'll post initials sometime… -
Re: 2025 NFL Regular Season Thread
Well, we're beating this Sanders topic to death, including me, so this might be my final post on the subject (until the next one - LOL) College sports is a whole world different than the pros. The discipline needed to succeed in the pros is far greater than in college. I don't think Sanders has that sort of discipline.… -

<< <i>and, does anyone know of a way to stop the coins from sliding around (rotating) within the coin slots ??? >> Hi, watch out for the suggestion "a bit of clear varnish on the inside edge" or the like as many types can emit harmful gases. Re: Between 1930 and 1939 What Items Had Value In America?
CASH - not PMs - are going to be the key. Depend on it. Metal-Bulls just don't get it. You cannot have ultra-high PM prices and a population with no access to cash/credit. You must have forgot to read the accounts of the great depression where gold was so favored that the President had to ban ownership. The simple act of… -
Re: Factors that make top provenance
This is interesting, but I suspect we may have quite a divergence of opinions. For what it's worth, a collection will never be considered great and a provenance to chase without documentation. i.e. a major auction sale at one of the main houses or a sylloge, such as that for the Schneider collection of English gold, is a… -

Re: Interesting article on attendance at sporting events
There are a few reasons why soccer, at least MLS soccer, will never become a mainstream sport in the U.S. (in some order): 1. We know we are not watching the best soccer players in the world. It's like watching AAA baseball. 2. There will probably never be "world class" American soccer player, like a Messi or Ronaldo.. If…
