Re: Ones that got away
<< <i>I find the "end of pain" interesting, what is it MLC? Appears in excellent shape and to be higher relief--------BigE >> It is an interesting piece. It's a Conder Token, D&H 834 variety. Plain Edge. Produced by Peter Kimpson. Here's the description it had when I bought it: A classic issue in the Conder series, with… -
Re: Hey Folks, Check-out These Registry Quality Jeffersons for sale on BST board
"Did you personally see the coins in Pittsburgh?" Leo: I lot viewed the collection at Bowers offices here in S. CA. - actually 2x. Bowers was gracious enough to allow me to lot view the collection before the set made it in print in the catalog and then again during regular lot view hours at their offices before the coins… -
Re: Can anyone tell Stacks what utter garbage their website is?
<< <i>Mark / Nic. First, as I said, my travels across the country at times have been to look at coins for my personal registry sets. Nothing to do with a livelihood. But, more importantly and I have said this many times - get your bids in early at Stacks/Bowers and that accomplishes a couple things: (1) peace of mind that… -
Re: Do you think there will ever be Corporate sponsered with Registry sets?
This is a great idea, but the Ohio fund disaster might put a crimp in the plan. I mean, what a cool idea to get Microsoft (or some other company) to give one of us a couple million dollars to build a #1 Registry Set with their name on it, so that thousands of collectors could envy and admire the set, and talk endlessly… -
Re: Has anyone returned cracked out labels lately?
@Tibor is this it ? :D (Newport Beach, CA) -- A veteran rare coin dealer has returned to Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) thousands of cracked-out certification inserts - the informative labels placed inside encapsulation holders. The turning in of the old inserts will improve the accuracy of the PCGS Population… -
Re: Another annoying email from Heritage
<< <i> << <i>Can you imagine any other company in the world where the President will find a complaint on a chatroom and contact the person to resolve it? That's the kind of incredible customer service that Tom Peters used to write about in his management books. >> I'm sure there are a few, but not many. And that's another… -
Re: What is the Single Biggest Asset That PCGS Has?
If I were analyzing PCGS for Morningstar, I would classify it as a "wide moat" company. They have a huge competitive advantage in that they are perceived to be the most conservative graders, with the widest market acceptance. IMHO. And the moat is even wider because of the Registry Set phenomenon. It is just that, a… -
Re: New NGC article about supposedly fake Costa Rica coin, but is it?
Highly enthusiastic about coins, counterfeits and odd stuff also. <3 This discussion gives me the chance to remind all of you NOT TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ (including my post)! Read and then verify what you read as misinformation is all over the Internet. IMHO, the OP's opinion is incorrect. I agree with NGC that the… -
How much truth is in this?
This is an email I received today from Blanchard & Co. What is your opinion on this? Is this just a bunch of BS being thrown around as a sales gimmick, or is there a grain of truth to it? If so, how much truth? Eric J. Olson Account Executive Blanchard and Company 1-888-885-4653 ejolson@blanchardgold.com… -
Master List: Your Favorite Coin Websites (Updated 8/28/2014)

I want to divide this up between Forums, Dealers, Auction websites, Legit coin grading companies, Coin Books, Clubs, Information pages, Mints, and Other. I will update this thread as suggestions come in (I will try to make the list of dealers as alphabetical as possible). If you have any other suggestions for categories,…
