Re: 2025 NFL Regular Season Thread
Well, we're beating this Sanders topic to death, including me, so this might be my final post on the subject (until the next one - LOL) College sports is a whole world different than the pros. The discipline needed to succeed in the pros is far greater than in college. I don't think Sanders has that sort of discipline.… -

Re: Who was the greatest catcher of al time?
<< <i>1. Fisk by a mile (24 years). In one memorable incident, pro-football and pro-baseball player Deion Sanders hit a pop fly, and refused to run to first base, suspecting that the ball would be easily caught. Fisk yelled at Sanders to run the ball out and told Sanders during his next at-bat, "If you don't play it [the… -
OT: Going to H-town What do I do?
I am headed to Houston (via Dallas) Friday morning to take in three Rangers-Astros games over the weekend. I will be wearing my road grays! I got a great deal on Hotwire.com and I am staying downtown at the Hilton of the Americas. Couple of questions as I know there are some Houstonites here: 1. According to Google Maps… -

<< <i>I want to nominate myself for wildcard finds. My job recently moved from one building about 9 miles down the road to the one I'm in now. There is a vending machine room with about 10 different machines (coffee, candy, pops, nukem food ect...) I’ve gone in there 5 times in month that I have been in this building and… -
Re: Did any of you notice any unusual Mickey Mantle cards at the 2015 National? Please elaborate.
I recall seeing a Mantle mask at the big Philadelphia show at the packed George Washington Motor Lodge in 88. It looked like it was the worse for wear, perhaps cracked a little here and there. My vague memory of over 25 years past is that Mantle's face was by then pretty worn. However, Bishop's specimen looks top notch.… -
Re: REA, Mile High, Fanatics Auctions...Post Your Winnings from these Auctions in the Last Few Days
I bid on one and won a single Mile High item (non Sports). Would have bid on more but 20% vig to them was absurd, it's not like they have near the same amount of eye balls as Heritage. Based on what I saw, bids I never placed as a result would have boosted the hammer on all that I would have, some by 2x. Makes me wonder… -
Re: Factors that make top provenance
This is interesting, but I suspect we may have quite a divergence of opinions. For what it's worth, a collection will never be considered great and a provenance to chase without documentation. i.e. a major auction sale at one of the main houses or a sylloge, such as that for the Schneider collection of English gold, is a…
