Re: How often do you see ICG graded coins at shows?
I certainly see the slabs at all of the shows, but they seem to lack a specific US coin niche. The high-end dealers and coins gravitate to PCGS and NGC slabs, and the scammers and problem coins to SEGS and PCI (or ACG or whatever). ANACS has the varieties niche and the niche for nicer cleaned and damaged coins, as well as… -
Re: eBay problem....A Canadian wins my USA only auction......
I have the same policy as Russ for the very same reason.....PAYPAL. I have no protection against chargebacks. I very rarely sell Canadian coins so this isn't usually an issue. Since PAYPAL is the favorite form of payment these days I REFUSE to take a chance with non-US bidders. Call me conservative or narrow-minded....but… -
Re: Is this real or fake email from Lord knows who?
It's a scam, Boom. I've gotten it a few times already also and reported them to ebay. Ya gotta wonder if anything is ever done about them. I've also gotten scammers from "yahoo", asking the same kind of personal info. Both of these companies state that they would never ask you for such info via e-mail. #1 rule is to never… -
Re: Why would you risk your $ ?
I've seen a lot of sellers with great feedback who are obviously scam artists. And, unfortunately, they do quite well for themselves. Yea, verily. There are a lot of ignorant buyers out there praising scammers to the heavens for their supposed "good deals." I buy somewhat expensive raw foreign coins on eBay because 1) I… -
Re: Are you tired of fraud? How much have you lost?
<< <i>The seller has provided the following information in response to your complaint, indicating that the item was shipped. Tracking Company: Other Tracking Number: 000000000 >> This shows you how much interest PayPal takes in complaints that are filed. A human isn't even involved, it's all handled by computer. And… -
Re: This is a bad one - eBay reportable
in this age, not to difficult to do with major firewalls, vpns, proxy servers and living in obscure places around the globe. my hats off to you AU for your fortitude. i'd rather just ding people's accounts. if they are honest and knowledgeable, there will be no problems, if they are a scammer or willfully ignorant, they… -
Re: 1929 nationals
Depends on the how badly the note is cut - the key thing is whether or not it is cut into the design. A tight margin will have virtually no impact unless it is a super-common note which is only worth more if well centered. If it's on a very rare bank, then the effect is negligible. You have to remember that the sheets were… -
Re: Surprising Ebay experience
Sorry to hear about this. NOTHING nowadays preturbs me more than scammers, thieves, hackers, and phishers. And most all are internet based. -Contact the Postal Inspector and explain to them that you have evidence of packing and sealing the coins securely. -Call ebay everyday and present them with your case/evidence and try… -
Re: how ebay can prevent bogus listings in hijacked accounts
<< <i>The best thing you can do for yourself is to never log in to anything via a link that you click. Always open a new window and type www.ebay.com or www.paypal.com - this doesn't help for people who aren't aware of this, though. >> Yes it does. When they give up their account password via phishing it will still take a… -
Re: Interesting email I got from Centsles re: Ebay coin policy

What I find amusing is how he infers conflict of interest by others yet he purveys his own overgraded self-slabbed NNC crap. Gimme a break. This is just one more "that's not fair" schoolyard whine from one of many power scammers that are going to (hopefully) see a reduction in their bottom line thanks to ebay finally…
