Re: CSI and GEC graded coins, another SGS-type grading operation?

to the forum! This is an old thread but good question I think the more relavent question should be why doesn't EBAY stop the blatant self-slab scammers? But the answer to that is easy: Because those sellers make ebay more money. Edit- Hi Tatter. If you get no replies from this thread, just start a new thread and cut and… -
Re: Ebay, Pay Pal and Delivery Confirmation
<< <i>How much is delivery confirmation? >> Some of the online postage places give it away for as little as $0.03 per first class mail. They typically have a $15 per month fee though. DC doesn't actually satisfy PayPal's proof of delivery though so if you are actually dealing with a scammer it won't help. It does give the… -
Re: Images and coin discussions? The board says....
coin pics are great, coin discussions are great, threads to hype a member's currently running auctions stink and belong on B/S/T board. could always tell us about the fantastic toning or super deep cameo after the auction ends, if the intent is really edification. scammer alerts are obvious exception tho. Besides, rather… -
Re: Good thing I learned to listen to you guys never buy anything but PCGS
most serious sellers probably submit rare coins - especially rarer ones like mid 90's morgans - to PCGS, that one probably came back BB but in either case, they know it is either not slabable with a real grader or such a low grade that they get the FBNs to slab them. I'm surprised some don't have their own slabs made and… -
'52 Topps Mantle in local paper..

Noticed this add in our local 'bargain finder' paper. Too good to be true.. I guess these scammers who haven't had much on eBay lately are turning to the classifieds.. I should meet this guy. (and say BAD!) RARE UNGRADED 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card, if you are looking for great finds at a fraction of the cost… -
This guy is ripping people off on EBAY
I was almost one of the victims... SCAMMERS When the auction ends, they ask you to send payment to alternate email address. Anyone know of a link to ebay where they can be reported? I emailed the highest bidder, but sometimes they think you're trying to talk him out of bidding. I've had 3 other ebayers email and ask me… -
Re: BIN Order Cancellation,,,When Did This Become a Normal Thing???
And now a follow-up,,,just got off the phone with a human at eBay...the most egregious scammer will have their accounts suspended for 60 days. This came to a head about an hour ago when the eBay algorithm sent me an automated email...asking if I wanted to pay $600 for the exact coin for which a $300 BIN was cancelled by… -
Re: PSA 9 Mantle 1956
I just thought that if PSA scanned the card immeidately after grading it, each cert number would only have 1 image associated with it, so if you wanted to verify a card, you could see an image of how the card looked when it was graded. But yeah, the scammers would probably find a way around that too. It's just scary to pay… -
Re: eBay Bucks Update - Bullion
<< <i>gold and silver eagles are also US coins, as are most commems. List them in the US Coin section under 'other' and problem solved. >> eBay spends more time trying to catch what they call "cheaters" doing things like this than they do trying to catch scammers. So I would expect they quickly address this loophole. I… -
Re: Suspicious 1859 PF66 Ultra Cam dollar

Yeah, I'd true-auction that puppy with no reserve if I owned it. What' the worst that can happen- lose $75k or so? There are two possibilities I see here. 1) Unusually sophisticated scammer, who actually knows the word "salient" and doesn't type in ALL CAPS. 2) It's a legit collector/dealer under a pseudonym, but an army…
