Re: Another Coin Vault Question
Well, I look at it as "no knowledgable, involved, coin collector would buy from them 98% of the time". That said, I could see where someone who tunes in and sees something they want (investment/gift/coolness factor/etc) may buy. That person may not trust ebay (enough people here talk about ebay fraud), may not use ebay (a… -
Re: Coin collecting needs a Tiger Woods... Do you agree?
Spy88, I think you correctly saw where I was coing from. I could have stated it better, and for the reocrd will restate how it should have read: "Instead of a game for people oftentimes perceived by the public as not being athletic enough to do other things, golf became hip." That is what I should have said. I didn't mean… -
Re: NFL won't let church show game

<< <i>Remember the Super Bowl gets money, repeat MONEY, from their advertisers << <i>So if 200 people watch the game at a church instead of 50 households, the ratings are lower and the NFL can't charge as much for advertising. Joe >> Small point but the NFL doesn't get anything from the advertisers except in-stadium… -
Re: Warm or cold weather - Which do you prefer?
I've lived in both. You probably have to define COLD and WARM. Cold in New England and other northern states can be incredibly nasty and bitter. Warm, OTOH, is different in the South vs New England in the Spring. My memories of cold in New England wasn't so bad, but still, cold is cold. I walked a couple of miles to school… -
Re: Another FIRST - SUPER FAST PCGS TURNAROUND TIME- SEE PIX

Actually, I believe the coins to be very accurately graded! Whoever graded these, in no way "robbed" me. The 52-S as a 63 really IS just a mild surprise, given the amount of luster and the overall look about it I had it as a 64 but the distractions (breaks in luster) right IN the focal area is what brought it down to a CH… -

Re: 1000 post offering WINNERS ANNOUNCED
-These coins are usually a bit darker than regular nickels, said to be due to their manganese content (as was true of many British coins minted from 1920 through 1947). A likely reason for the darker appearance of the wartime coin was due to exposure to sulfur during circulation, which invariably gave the coins a mild and… -
Re: Who's buying the 2010-W Gold Buffalo Proof(Collector's Coin) 1oz. from the U.S. Mint on June 3rd?

<< <i>Hi Michael, Thanks for posting this here. Don't you suppose initial sales volume will be substantially affected by many people watching the gold spot price, hoping to save by buying after a downward fluctuation, especially if the price is hovering near one of the mint's price-break points? Unless of course they're… -
Re: Another auction win...color on three cent nicks are cool...and 2 seated dimes...and a half for jaybo
If the images, and my interpretation of them, are accurate as they appear on my screen then I have no problems with any of the four coins posted. True, it is rare to see three-cent nickels with much color, but this woodgrain pattern is something I have seen in the past and I always thought of this look as coming from… -
