Good Morning....Thanks for all of your helpful information. I took another stab at the 1921 Morgan last night. I made a few adjustments based on the advice given by fellow forum members. Although, I dont think it is perfect, I have definitely improved my photograph...Compare the two Morgans below. Thanks again Howdy… -
Re: Image Request: Norweb 1893-S Before Alleged Conservation

IIRC, the color from the catalogue is a bit rich, Mmy customer was in at about $225K . . . . IIRC went from Ed Milas to George Bodeway It's possible Chris Napolitano, then Summit RC, now StacksBowers, later handled both of them for a customer as a broker, and recommended against the "process". I have no idea who owned the… -
Re: Nickel rolls I promised are in the mail
<< <i>OK Loanshark! I have my own nickels but someone asked you if they are P or D. Here in Oregon I can get D but have traded with a friend, from Ohio for the P's. But your story also reminds me of a town in Montana I grew up in (Long, Long ago). A couple of years ago I dropped into the local bank to see someone my… -
A couple of variety questions- 1964 AH Kennedy, 1971-D FEV Ike
I'm giving a presentation on cherrypicking varieties to the Capital City Coin Club next week. I've decided to talk about varieties that have a different story, rather than the typical DDO, RPM, RPD types. Two of the coins I'm using are the 1964 AH Kennedy Half, and the 1971-D RDV-006 Ike dollar. What I need to know is: Is… -
Coins back from PCGS. Guess the grades! (Grades Posted)

Posted my comments and grades below. Ok, so my camera has been broken for many months. Please forgive me for scanning them, the scans introduced artifacts, junk, milky spots and muted toning (on the half). But, should still be fun to guess the grades. I was able to call two of them, well 3 really but I was hoping for the… -
Re: Hammered back down, again.
GDX was whipsaw central today. You could have sold-bought-sold it today on multiple large swings. The COT positioning shows 18 month extremes in silver with gold not far behind. Unless we're now in a new PM bull market (it's possible), then these kinds of levels have soon led to stiff corrections for the past 4 years. The… -

Re: Here is a question regarding the gold price
Nice summary by jmski52. Miners today are working high up in the mountains (5,000 to 10,000 ft) and deep in the earth as well (3 miles down) in some of the coldest and hottest environments imagineable. These are not ideal conditions to mine. The days of finding huge gold deposits near the surface are pretty much gone. The… -
Re: Educate Me! How to I protect my toners from changing color?
I believe that the usefulness of Intercept Shield boxes is very debatable. It is my understanding that a truly original toned coin once removed from its toning source and slabbed would prove to remain quite stable going forward and does not really require specific care to keep it from toning more. Yes, environmental… -
Re: What it was like collecting coins when I was a kid
As AUandAG stated, we all have many stories of how we began collecting coins, but in reading some of these, one story came to mind above all of the others. I began collecting coins when I was ten years old, in 1959, looking through the proceeds from my newspaper route. I had purchased the familiar Whitman blue folders at…
