Pawn shops or antique stores tend to overprice their coins - significantly!! Some will negotiate, most will not. I make one reasonable attempt if I am interested in an item... If stonewalled, I just walk away. No sense in haggling with those who are either uninformed, scammers or some combination. Cheers, RickO -

Re: NPBs. Is it ok to add their names in item descriptions to warn others?
Regardless of the answers to your questions here....there are so many NPBs....that offering a list or combining a list from others would probably reach the post character limit and then some. NPBs are a fact of life at this point. Scammers on the other hand, that is where information exchange may be more useful. -

It's really not that hard to figure out what a PCGS coin is....and then find their price guide. The owner of such coins would quickly realize there are thousands of dollars there. Do the CL's scammers really think it's that easy to buy slabbed PCGS coins for 10C on the dollar? Raw coins are another issue though. -

Not to rain on the parade, but since you brought up errors, scammers, and ebay - Dont follow this too closely, but my recollection was that a couple of years ago the Chinese mints were churning out simulated error coins. That seems like it might have died down, is that your observation? -

If you check VCP the exact Mantle card just sold in Huggins auction 9/30/09 for $13,200. At $14,500 BIN for the Mantle and Mathews lets just say it's an odd way to make a living. Good thing he has certs blocked to keep scammers away. -

One of these days a random Ebay scammer is going to buy one of these cards, claim that PSA wouldn't grade it, and send him back a card that they cracked out of a PRO holder, at which point great-lakes-auction-house is going to have to seriously rethink his business model. -

Why does it seem like this forum gets targeted by more idiots and wannabe scammers then any other forum I read on the internet? I don't know how you regs manage to not go crazy with these folks, but I applaud you for being able to handle them. -

Coin World blew it. If security were a concern due to the Coin mag arriving unprotected, you wouldn't be a current subscriber due to their current "unprotected" policy. If CW offered a "pay a little extra and we won't include the full-page scammer ads," I'd consider resubscribing. -

Looks legit to me. Just a guy who has built up a lot of feedback and now selling some high dollar stuff. Seems ok. He accepts Paypal. Can always ask if pick-up is available as that weeds out some scammers!? Good luck!
