Re: 1883 Morgan DMPL/PL question
<< <i>Is it weird that in the pop report for 1883 Morgans there are 496 PL's but 651 DMPLs? I also see that on the 1880/9-S but the pops are mcuh lower. Any reasoning behind this? >> Probably submission bias, likely driven by price differences. I would imagine many PLs were submitted as being DMPL, just didn't make it. But… -
Re: This means War!
Hey Mick.... I looked at that set when it came out on eBay and thought maybe a few cards would make a decent grade.... According to most eBay sellers, all their cards are perfect and problem free. ...All of us of this board simply knows that isn't the case, most of the time...... I think the price realized was in the… -

Re: Who's going to the PNNA show in Portland, OR this weekend October 23 & 24

Driving up now. No I am not at the wheel. My helper is taking a turn. Between Medford and Grants Pass on the way to visit family near Albany tonight. Big benefit is to watch the game tonight near Duckland!!!! Although I will be keeping a close eye on the Giants Phillies game so channel switching may take place. Beautiful… -
Re: A couple of firsts for me today!

The blue stone was found near the surface near tables where the kids probably eat and play games. I usually dont pick up rocks but this one is indeed very strange. It is extrememly smooth and equally striking on the back. I think it might be a rock out of a kids "bag of magic rocks" or some kind of counter for a D&D type… -
Re: PQ Approve-- post your PQ Approved coins here!
During a conversation with David Stuppler in 2012, he mentioned to me that they really had no idea what CAC would approve or not. My guess is that their approval rate wasn't all that good, as is the case with most other dealers. Warren Mills on the other hand gets almost all his coins submitted to CAC approved because he… -
Re: Bay State Show Report 11-11-11
I went to the show yesterday, and took home one national banknote. I heard this is the last show in Boston, and it is moving to Marlborough. Quite a few of the dealers were complaining about the move being too far from Logan airport and that they would not be back. I would think the extra few dollars in transportation for… -
Re: Poll: should members be allowed to sell relics and dug stuff and detector equipment here?
<< <i>What about the monthly sale thread where each person grabs a spot on the monthly thread. This way there is only 12 per year. >> I think that idea has some merit, Ray. Perhaps SM1 can be persuaded to do us up a sticky "MD Forum Marketplace" thread along the lines of the "Bargain Bin" thread in the US Coins BST. Except… -
Re: My first encounter with a doctored coin and PCGS's response.

Of ALL the PCGS certified Washington Quarters I've handled, I have been extremely fortunate to have purchased ONLY ONE that turned in the slab and as Russ stated, as soon as I had the coin in hand I knew it just did not look right. It looked like no other I'd worked with BEFORE or since. It was completely washed out,… -
