Baltimore report
I know you guys have been waiting with baited breath. First, for anyone comping home via I-95 North. Traffic was a nightmare! I left the show today at 2:30, called my wife and told her I should be home about 4:30. I just walked in the door about 15 minutes ago (6 PM.) At the MD/DE border, just north of the toll, I-95 is… -

Re: Does anyone know what a mint sewn bag of 1964 Lincolns is worth?
I know a dealer in a small town about 65 miles from me that has a back room with bags from the early 60's up to the 90's stacked to the ceiling with bags of cents. I know when the 95-P DDO was first being found he had 2-3 bags of 95-P's for sale with the earlier date stamp on the bags. He also had a couple of bags of… -
Re: Good article on dipping.
Look carefully at the jar of Ez-Est and read the instructions, especially with respect to the rinse. It recommends a solution of mild soap prior to the final rinse! In my tests relating to dipping brand new bronze spouse medals into Ez-Est to get the spots off... It is very, very difficult to rinse the coin properly so… -
Re: How Inclusive is the Fivaz Counterfeit Gold Guide?
One of your most valuable tools with finding counterfeits are high quality images of REAL examples, such as from the major auction houses or PCGS coinfacts images. and yes like most say, once youve looked at a lot of reals/fakes you CAN spot the fake from 'a mile away'. often its the color, or the 'look' of the piece. A… -
Re: Treating copper coins with oil...

I've used mineral oil and olive oil on corroded copper with good results. Takes a while to loosen the crud up, but can then be wiped off with a cotton towel. I'm sure that's less destructive than a wire brush... the only other method I'm aware of, but if the chemists here know something I don't, feel free to enlighten me.… -
Re: Here are two different PCGS graded Vermont Ryder 2s....???
<< <i>I'm not sure. Maybe it's to really look at the COIN in the holder instead of the assigned grade. >> No, I'M NotSure! After following your Vermont 'journey', Ambro, I've seen you just grab this series by the horns. You know your stuff on Vermonts, so I have to ask, why do YOU think the coin is graded where it is??… -
Re: Maybe a dumb question???
Not a dumb question at all. Like others before have said, this blue haze is quite common on Silver proof Ikes, especially 1972-S. I would guess that 40-60% of Silver Proof Ikes in the OGP have this to some extent. Sometimes it can be quite attractive; other times it tends to be a distraction and can even be a milky white… -
Re: Where to detect in Colorado?
Morning all.... Been some weird weather out here lately....and when it's been good, the list of honey-do's has been getting smaller. Hopefully weekend after this, I will try and gather a few ppl from the area to hit a spot that is about 20 miles from my house that had several houses in the early 1800's on it. Carla, First…
