I don’t mind that the USPS didn’t get my signature. I DO mind that they claim to have left it with an individual, and that I signed for it. That is simply false. Had it been stolen, the company I purchased it from would tell me to pound sand because USPS recorded that I signed for it. -

I get stuff all the time in my po box that needed a signature on the return receipt, but that I did not sign for. They must figure that since they know they put it in there, that's good enough. But if you pay for it, it ought to get signed. Could cause a lot of problems if the recipient falsely claimed they never got it. -

I sent a note to snopes.com, they can usually find out the facts on rumors like this. Will see. BTW check them out they have tons of rumors both true and false. It's rare to find one they don't have but they didn't have any info on this I could tell. Snopes-rumors -
Re: Ebay stolen coin claim when "delivered"?
Just sent an insured package that buyer said he did not receive despite the PO having listed it as delivered. We asked him to file an official report with the postal service reminding him it is illegal to file a false or misrepresented claim. The package was miraculously found a couple hours later.
