The auction house has to report the net payment they make to you to the IRS. They will send you a 1099. That means you have to report it on your income tax forms, and you should have you cost basis for the coins. As to how the gains and losses work, talk to your accountant. The IRS is really screwing collectors these days.… -

I'd give 7k to each one of my brothers and sisters (I have three of each in which I am the youngest of the 7) - Were all pretty close and with the times being tough they could all use it. Then I'd use some of the 8k left and buy a new (used) car. Kinda sucks when you have to scrape ice off the INSIDE of your windshield… -
