Re: 1971 & 1972 cello pack question?
If the shrinkwrap had the BBCE imprint, that would be a different story, but the purpose of that shrinkwrap is to create a false sense of factory sealed authenticity with a star card on top. Topps did not shrinkwrap any of the outer boxes they used from 1970-1972. There is zero chance that pack is authentic. -

Re: Legend Baltimore Report
The show had fantastic wholesale and retail. Generic gold sold like mad with quality not really mattering. Spotty, overgraded, whatever sold very strong at market levels. Even with the price of gold falling during the show, levels did not fall at all. We sold a lot of collector's coins as well. I did not see any… -
Re: Coin Show Venting
Pat, I do beleave that the ANA is missing the boat with it's spring and fall show. I thought that both shows were to be with a state show at the state show site. The state show had room for a nice area for the ANA. I think that the state clubs should run the bourse floor and the ANA helps with the show not run it. What is… -
Re: Red Book question.
<< <i>Mine always fell apart rather quickly with frequent use >> I haven't had that problem with any Red Books since the ones that were issued in the mid 1970s. Those books did fall apart with the slightest provocation. When I bought a group of Red Books years ago, the books in the set included a group of those dates that… -
Re: U. S. bond market and the point of no return
<< <i>FED will continue buying bonds as long as it has to. Bonds will eventually be forced upon retirement holdings. While there is an eventual end to the madness, the US will position itself, via the FED, to be one of the last to fall. >> This is exactly what they have done in Japan. Last to fall will be the one least… -
Re: For the complete numismatic library, all you need is Breen's Encyclopedia and the Ford Catalogs. Ag
That fall-apart thing is pretty much par for the course, sadly. I have never seen one that didn't fall apart when read long enough, mine included. The bindings are all bad. And I know there are inconsistencies and inaccuracies in Breen's work, but nobody delved into the topic with the depth he did. I have never really… -
Re: I know nothing about errors, please help me out
I agree, it looks plated. The spots of copper on the reverse are not typical of unplated cents, nor is the exceedingly shiny finish. The weight of a genuine unplated cent will be a few hundredths of a gram lower than the average 2.5g, but may still fall within the normal range of variation for unplated cents. A plated cent… -
Re: A real live coin doctor at the NY ANA show!
Now let me get this straight. Toning on coins will be able to be duplicated so well that in a few years the toned market will fall apart. Ok, I could buy that. But at the same time, the ability to create bright white luster on untoned coins will become a reality, but........the "white blazer" coin market will NOT fall…
