Re: Has a major grading service ever graded and slabbed a counterfeit coin?

I had a multiple struck Trade Dollar that was in a PCGS MS62 Chop Mark holder. The coin was cracked out and examined before being resubmitted and it came back as a real coin that had been double struck by false dies. I am not sure how exactly that ends up with a coin like this but the number of top shelf coin people PCGS… -
Re: Unusual 1925 buffalo nickel, what say you????
The coin just came to me in the mail today. I have had some real time with the actual coin now, and as many have agreed it is a counterfeit but man what a good one. This would easily circulate along side a real buffalo nickel and most people would not know the difference. When you look at the bison, for example, it just… -
Re: Any '59-D Lincoln Wheaties Slabbed Out There?

Re: Coins with "rumored" existence...
1869cc dollar. Abe Curry, mint Superintendent, had the dies in the fall of 1869 to start minting coinage in Carson City. However, there had not been a "coiner" approved by Washington to start the minting process. The "coiner" was there at the mint but was not yet approved and thus they could not start minting dollars, or… -
Re: What is a error coin?
Hi There is a difference between the terms errors and varieties. Varieties such as doubled dies, although they may result from an error in the manufacturing process of hubs or dies are usually not classified as errors. The general defenition and Mr. Weinberg may want to add or take away from this is that an error is the…
