Often American silver eagles as well often have 'milkspots' Pure gold can tone too, I have a pamp suisse 1 gram gold bar that must've had a chemical residue come in contact on the bar during minting and it has oxidized.. -

To anyone who gets this survey: PLEASE REMEMBER TO SCREAM ABOUT THE MILKSPOTS!!!!! Tell them you're done buying ASE's and all .999 silver from the US Mint until the issue is resolved. Hopefully I'll receive the survey too . -

Milk spots will definitely downgrade a coin.... Not sure why someone would submit a coin with milkspots... and, unfortunately, they do form after slabbing. That being noted, I personally would not submit one with spots already on the coin... Cheers, RickO -

My two BU coins arrived today They are as flawless as any coin I've ever seen, even under magnification. Please excuse the crumby pics...I was in a hurry so the lighting and color is off. The little specs here and there are all lint. Not a single milkspot to be found yahoooooo -

This is a nice score... a 58 Cameo is a rather tough find.... I have found 3 in proof sets (and I have search a ton)... And the three I found had hairlines, milkspots.... All three graded pr66cam on me....... I remembering selling these in the $115 range........ -

and Franklins are well known for this type of milkspotting.... as its sometimes called.... this can hurt a grade, this coin is probably a pr67 at best in a PCGs holder.... Thats not to say that you wont find any pr68's with spots, but this particular one is kinda distracting in a obvious area... with that said, it is still… -

Was going through my proof JFKs looking to get some new and improved images and found this. Dreaded milkspot. I know they're cheap enough but this coin had beautiful mirrors with some minor scratches on the holder. -

I don't like the obverse (cheek/face area with the gold/brown discoloration) nor the milkspot on the reverse. That said, I think it still got a 65, but no cac. Not a coin I would want. I would, honestly, want to give it a lower grade than the choices allow...... -
